Default trunk sub recipe -- feedback pls.

I whipped this up for those .net n00bz and catman. I think people are missing out on the simplicity of this.

Anyway, check it.

think I'm doing a carpeted fiberglass enclosure in my trunk....

I think the only hiccoughs will be that I need it to remain removeable if I feel the need to shed weight.... And where to mount the Amp so that it still remains cool and doesn't look retarded... and how to carpet the enclosure well.

I have a 1500w Alpine 10, and a 1000w JL amp to use.... the sub is 1000w rms, so i figure it'll handle whatever....

Most likely I'll do a spare tire well thing, we'll have to see

take that 1000wrms with a grain of salt. it is probably a thermal limit. ie if all the conditions are perfect, it wont melt down at 1000w. it may still sound like ***

you can use the same "cookbook" stuff for fiberglass enclosures. you just have to know the sub specs and make the enclosure the right size to match them.

That JBL 1000w amp is actually surprisingly good for how cheap it is a friend of mine used to have one.

Y8s - you wrote this up?
Sounds like a very nice simple solution. Something I may try pretty soon here.
Partsexpress and I have become good friends over the years.
Im guessing this takes up pretty much all of the trunk space... I need room for golf clubs which is why ive only been considering the rear deck 8" setup.
I was going to see if I could use a 10" shallow mount and build a box to go in the small well, but I haven't tried anything yet.

I wouldn't expect any more than 500 watts RMS out of the JL amp. Everything is rated for max power rather than continuous and generally (not all the time) the nominal power is 1/2 the maximum.

my god no! Look at the box dimensions! It's *small*--which is the point. Here's a pic of mine to give you an idea where you can shove your golf clubs:

Since I dont have clubs, I can't say for sure they'd fit but you could certainly make the 5-3/8" tall box and sit it in the bottom well in an NA. If the well is big enough that is. Another option is to make a panel that fits over the well and seals to the bottom of the trunk and just lay it in there with some thick weather stripping to seal it to the floor. And a good solid grill.
