Default K20 Elise Type-R

Has anyone heard of this? My friends and I were talking, and two of them trash-talked the Elise, calling its Toyota powerplant an abomination. So I remembered hearing about a B18 Elise a long time ago. Did a quick google search and found out there's now a K20 swap kit going for $6,500 not including the long block/trans. Not a bad deal at all, especially if you find a shell or a beat-up Elise. After the Miata rush leaves my body, this will be my next toy I suspect within 5 to 10 years from now.

What do you guys think about this? 220hp, mid-1700lbs, 0-60 in low 4 seconds, 1/4 mile in mid 12's. This is my dream machine. In 5 years time, a Lotus Elise can be had for low $20's making this complete package around $30-35k. Honda reliability, perfect powerplant, perfect chassis. Ultimate track warrior. Why aren't there more of these roaming around?

I like the idea of this, but i highly doubt the Elise will ever become, CHEAP , abused, or a replacement for miata.

Have you ever had to repeateadly get into , and out of an elise Its like sitting into a iron bathtub step down into.

Not fun for DD to run to the store to get milk.

Looks hot. I could take fake video-game photos of it all day long.

They can be had for that right now. Clean, low mile ones are 25-28K all day long. Higher mileage or salvage title ones are low 20s.

Old news here, ive been drooling over these for years.

Honestly though, why not boost the celica gts motor that is in it? Even the stock motors take well to boost, and for the price of that swap kit you could have a very well built stock motor in there. There is a twin charged one somewhere on the internet that makes 500+whp.

Mainly because there's been a lot of issues with the stock motor lasting under track conditions, or so the story was years ago. I remember hearing about a TRD team that had to disband because they couldn't keep the Celica GT-S motors together.

So after your boyfriend felches his *** out of your gaping *******, you're going to buy an Elise?

I consider myself a pretty easy-going, understanding person, but you try my patience. I've tried to ignore your posts, but it's no use. You have to be the most annoying piece of **** on the internet. I played CoD on XBOX360 once and the people talking **** in that game were less annoying than you are. ****. I hate you so much.

No one gives a **** about your car and all you do here is bitch about how much you want a supercharger because it's better than a turbo. Take your green wheels with you on the way out. Fagg0t.

Do you realize this is designed for the S1 Elise? The one we didn't get in the US?

(yes, others have made it work in the S2, but as a kit)

Really?I had always thought the 2ZZ motor's problem was the oil pump at high revs just like our motor. Cheap sintered oil pump gears that shattered. I know someone makes billet oil pump gears for those motors. Beyond that it seemed like the standard oiling issues-bigger baffled sump, Accusump etc.
I don't think the head has any problems it's made by yamaha isn't it? Pistons are weak on the bottom end but so are every other stock 4 cylinder pistons.

That's what I heard, not really sure what was going on there. Could have been a series where you were limited in oiling modifications you could do, don't know.

Just secondhand, at best, but I remember hearing about that from some of the bigger MR-2/S racers when talking about the swap. Could be completely wrong.

I would love to have one of these things. The only thing I would like to have instead of a supercharged honda lotus is something like this..
http://www.midlana.com/
(although with some changes to my liking)

He destroyed every Lotus on the track. I love the sound of VTEC from a K20...

And I don't care if any of you hate me or my green wheels. I love my car. Sounds like some of you need to get laid (Pusha).
