A patch of concrete would be a welcome sight.

I love my uncles setup here in Kona. He has 3 door airplane hanger size building for his garage. A two post four point lift and all the tools i can imagine. Pretty damn nice. Wish i had the miata here i would be build my 3" exhaust and swap in the lsd.
My patch of blacktop is ok though.

DIY Autotune has the coolest dyno set up. They have 4 pods (one for each wheel of an AWD/4WD). The pods are heavy, but on casters, and do not require any installation into your structure. You can roll them out of your way when you don't need them, and even move them to a new location if your truck has a liftgate. Also, if you have a second computer, they will function as two complete dynos for 2WD vehicles. If I hit the lottery, I will have a set of them in my dream garage. Only problem with them is the price tag. You're looking at $75k or so for a pair of the big ones new.

dyno with a lift is kinda fun:
mmmm oil......
gives you a chance to take pictures of your intercooler setup after you've tuned it....i guess you can access the exhaust if you need to as well

I guess I am one of the spoiled ones. 
Although I have spent many of years working on cars laying on the ground, whether it be concrete or mud. I bet I could win a race to change out a Chevy drive shaft u-joint while laying in a mud hole.
We bought a house a few years back that came with a 32x24 garage out back. The owner just had it built to store his RV the year before we bought the house. I guess we (or more like I) were just lucky. I just wanted a house that had enough land for me to build a garage "one day" and this one fell in our lap.
The funny thing is that you can't see the garage from the front of the house and I didn't know it was back there when we first looked at the house. After we looked through the house, the owner asked if I would like to look at the garage out back. "of course", I said with a big smile on my face. We went out back and my jaw hit the ground. 32x24 barn style garage with a 20ft ceiling. Its all open for the time being, but a nice storage loft are in the plans. It has one 12x12 door on the 24ft side. The concrete was still pristine when we bought it, not a oil stain to be found.
We walked back inside and I told my wife that she better have liked the house because we were buying it.
We closed on the house on a Wednesday afternoon. I was in the garage that evening laying the tile floor. (have to get it done before you move in the tools)
About a month later, I called my buddy who owns a small repair shop to ask him where to buy a lift locally. I just wanted to do some calling around for prices to see how long it was going to take me to save up to buy one. He told me who he bought his from and I called for pricing. Later that week, my buddy called back and said they were contemplating selling one of their lifts to open up some more storage area. (4 lifts, 4 bays, 3 mechanics) He asked if I wanted their extra lift. He gave me the buddy price which was about 1/8th the cost of a new one. I couldn't give him the money fast enough.
Me and 5 friends picked up the lift the following weekend and installed it in my garage. It was a pain in the *** and took most of the day, but it wasn't complicated. Moving around all that steel was tough.
So yes I am spoiled. So much that I don't want to work on a car without a lift. A friend was in a bind the other day while installing coilovers on his NB, and called in for help. I went by his house and helped him out, but bitched about working on the ground the whole time.
Back to the dyno topic. I don't think I want a dyno in my garage. For one, my neighbors probably wouldn't appreciate it. I have a good friend with a dyno at his shop and it's only about 2 miles from my house. It's good to have friends.
Although, I have been eyeing up a used hunter alignment rack that uses 4 pedestals rather than ramps.
