Default Bro-vice on being sick

I'm dying here. And I can't miss out on work Monday, and by this I mean I need to be running like a well oiled machine, either way I'm going in. This isn't a normal sinus infection, it's like a sinus infection + massive migraine + upset stomach. Do any of you fruits have some get better super fast tricks? Or at least recommend me something that will make it all numb? I never get sick so this is new to me, WTF do I do bros????

You ever use a Neti pot? It looks like a small ceramic version of Aladdin's lamp. You fill it with warm salty water (like you might gargle with) and pour it through your sinuses. No, not kidding. Yes, it's messy, so do it in/over the tub. It's the quickest way I use to relieve sinus congestion/pain/bacteria. You'll need to do it multiple times over the weekend for best results. You should be able to find one at Walgreens. If not, a health food store/supply would have one. It won't cure you by itself, but it'll help a lot.

Also, eat a shitload of raw garlic and ginger. Look up some recipes online for teas made with them.

Sleep, vitamin C, hydrate, sleep. Is there a CVS clinic open near you? Might be worth a shot.

Interesting. How do I pour something through my sinuses? Tilt head back and go at it? That seems worse than just suffering. Although it might be a last resort thing. Since I'm at a hotel I can't really get too crazy. I do have a kitchenette with some minor things. Frack this is BS. I've been attempting to sleep all day but the pressure from my sinus is freaking terrible. And I'm a bitch.

I use the neti squirt bottle. The secret is to relax and let the goop flow. It will help immensely.

Squirt bottle seems a bit more humane. Might go with that.

For upset stomach... What is something good to drink? I've heard sprite, but will coke work? I think some of my headache is related to the fact that I've had no caffeine today.

I have some NyQuil stuff I plan to take around 10pm or so to help pass out.

It's a little fucked up the first time you use it, but I'm a big fan now. Warm water and kosher salt - maybe 1/4 teaspoon. MAKE SURE THE SALT DISSOLVES COMPLETELY. Don't be a bitch... just sack up and try it.

Just slam water, it will help to flush the body. 2 Gallons per day. I drink one gallon per day when feeling well. Protein and fat will also help the body.

as a masive smoker+incredibly stupid weather in canada, i'm used to sinus/throat infection.

there is next to no other way than penicelin to get that kind of infection away from my new-bord immunitary system.

i founded the other day that the cough sirup compagny ''buckley'' are making new ''all symptom'' releive gel caps.nevcer tried those before, BUT i used the buckely gel caps for ''day and night'' and this is doing plain miracle to make all symptoms disapears.

read me well, it aint gonna make you feel better, but you wont be ''feeling'' sick.

double the dose and go to work, that's what i'm doing in case of influenza/hardcore cold/sinus infection. 2 ''day'' gel caps keep me like a new man for 4h. same thing in the afternoon, and 2 ''night caps '' makes me sleep like a baby.

forgive all the typos, i'm trying my best here

edit-do NOT mix those buckley gel caps with anything else. it's SUPER STRONG and if you take 6 caps a day and take a nyquill ''lemon and honey'' cup , you'll puke your stomach out,ask me how i know.

if youre addicted to caffeine like me, you'll feel like your head is gonna explode when you quit drinking some for a day or more.

for the stomac, rollaids are great, but yet again, dont take them within 2 hours before/after the cold medecine

What works the best for me is easy calories. I find the worst thing I can do while I am sick is skip a meal or otherwise not eat - and remember, while fighting a cold, your body needs more calories than normal, so I find that it works best if I eat more.

Additionally, make sure to get enough fluids. This is the other big thing that kicked my *** in the past. I didn't drink enough of non-alcoholic beverages. Dehydration, even minor, for me was about as bad as not eating. Plus, hydrating with hot fluids helps partially or even fully alleviate some of the symptoms. (Edit: +1 to Hustler's suggestion to flush with fluids basically, although I don't stay strictly to water but also use juices, some kinds of hot chocolate, that sort of thing. Sprite or 7up to help settle your stomach may work, carbonated beverages don't do it for me.)

Beyond that, get as much rest as you can. Anyways, that's just what I do - I've never tried any of the fancy medicine I see recommended here, and I'm too gutless to try a neti pot.

At home I'd just stick it out and let it die naturally, but I have to be at the top of my game all next week and feeling like this won't cut it. I've got a case of smartwater next to me, but I haven't eaten anything all day. I feel like I will vomit it up. Plus right now my only options are eating out since I'm not home. I doubt pizza will work well. These chips seem to be working okay.

This is just *my* experience, but not eating makes me feel sicker, which in turn makes me not want to eat more, which makes me feel sicker...Basically, I am setting myself up to feel shittier and shittier.

If I could not keep down solid food, I would switch to orange juice or a similar beverage for calories. But starving your body means your body has to cannibalize itself for energy to fight the sickness.

Cannibalize???? NOT MY MUSCLES!! lol but seriously not working out has been killing me too. I hate messing up my gym schedule. Now I'm sick. I'm going to lose so much weight. I don't have lbs to spare! I have some cottage cheese I may eat very slowly shortly. That is seriously all I have besides my chips :(

I'm about to go down stairs and buy a sprite and coke.

I seem to be more prone than some to sinus infections, and I swear by Afrin. Get it in the pump-spray version, 3 hits in each nostril before you go to work, 3 before you go to bed.

The bottle says to discontinue use after 5 days, and they mean it. Your sinuses will develop a physical dependence on the stuff if you use it longer.

I eat a lot of toast when I can't keep anything else down.

Oh toast, I like that. Hotel friendly and the gas station just up the block will probably stock it.

Afrin, I think I've heard of that. It's over the counter?
