user:ripracer discussion (split from JayL build thread)
#44
Just finished reading through this thread...My names BG, I work for enjuku, i've done plenty of business with Bayly(ripracer). I'm just trying to get a better understanding of the situation. So he sold some used motor parts to JayL, JayL installed those parts, and ran them for a few months? Then started having issues with them? Just curious.... correct me if i'm wrong, I'm just trying to understand what happened.

ripracer sold JayL a head that 'A machine shop [had] refreshed...and installed the upgraded valvetrain'
JayL put it on without first having his own machine shop check it and it appeared the stem seals seemed to be shot and it was leaking oil bad into all cylinders after getting it running again.
He removed it and took it to a machine shop that said the guides were fucked.
This is when JayL asked for his money back and would send the head back.
There was a supposed agreement between the two, however, that doesn't seem to be the case. In the meantime, others have come out with bad experiences with ripracer. I have zero tolerance for shitty sellers on this site.

looks like he bought it Dec/Jan, finally got it running near the end of April, complained of poor performance shortly after. Started posted about the seals in Aug. Guess what he didn't do, **** up his own guides, guess who did...

On a side note, why are you really here? Do you care enough that you will help the others and myself get these issues resolved with ripracer? Or are you upset because this is the guy that is trying to represent your business on the Miata forums making you look bad right along with himself?

The dude bought a head, ran it a few months, with decent HP and now hes having problems. You buy used parts, you see the pictures, you take the chance. You got it all for $700 out of a wrecked car. For all the seller knows it could have been abused and over revved for five months. The motor ran fine everytime I rode in the car before its eventual flip.

it took you three usernames to get that across? wow. you really don't give a **** do you?
the head was junk. power numbers or length of 'use' are circumstantial. there's no excuse for selling someone a "built" head with bad guides, that means it was a junk head. Jay should have had it checked out, but took a gamble. Does that put ripracer in the clear? of course not.

Putting on my adult hat, if these guys are running a company, and are associated with rip, they should have worked with him to convince him to work things out with JayL and 18 (and whoever else he's screwed). Companies live and die by reputation, and this is not a good way to build one. Piling on may be fun for the rest of us not associated with the transactions, and a little juvenile, but piling on from their side is bad business. It's probably not too late for them all to work it out and effectively kill this thread, but, they probably won't.
