Want or do not want? Subaru BRZ STI

Dealer called me. They don't have any in stock, and wanted me to put down a deposit for them to get one up here to test drive. WTF??
I want to test drive to see if I like it. I'm not gonna buy one sight unseen, you nimrod. Used those exact words (minus the nimrod part), and he put me on hold for a sec. Manager came on the line to try to talk me into some sort of payment, or promise to go to stealership and make one.
I hung up on them. They did not call back. This economy and they think that 25 grand is an impulse purchase?
Going to contact the Toyota place tomorrow.

A good friend of my father-in-law walked into a Chevy dealership about 6 or 7 years back to inquire as to the price of a Corvette on display. The salesman, thinking he was being funny said, "if you have to ask, you can't afford it." Friend walked out.
He returned 2 days later with a new Corvette from the dealer the next town over, which he had paid for in cash. Salesman was fired on the spot by the manager. Father-in-law loves to tell that story. The fact that he knows (and dispises) the salesman makes it all the better for him.

Was over at the neighbor's house helping to install a light fixture. Seems the father knows the sales manager of the large Subaru place (Van Bortel)nearby. Not the same place that called me. Anyway, he gave me the personal cell number of the sales manager, and left a text to have him call me tomorrow.

I'm not in the market for a 2-dr coupe. So I will continue to hate.
Love, Brain.
PS. It's not like I havent tried to convince my wife that it's the perfect car to replace her prelude with.

But yes, "big HP numbers" will have to wait until someone builds the engine, develops lower compression pistons, makes an exhaust manifold, adds additional fuel, etc.
This kit is like the equivalent of a GReddy kit for the Miata but with even less hardware.

They're hesitant because they're going in completely blind. And they're smart for being hesitant. 200whp @ 4psi aint bad at all, and once they start building those motors and running proper setups that number will jump up drastically.
And yes Brain, DI is some very interesting ish: you can run more timing and what we consider dangerously lean mixture safely. Cool stuff.
