not at all. It's also much easier to handle it in the car instead of a bulky full size computer.

Thinkpad SL400.

More bulky than I'd like but it is my only laptop and it works pretty well. MT freezes a lot though and I cant even end the process, have to restart. Annoying but oh well.

Only the old guys around here might remember those!
LOL, nice!

I have 2 TI-99/4As in the basement, one of which still even has the box.

Toshiba Satellite, don't know the exact model number but 1.8 GHz w/ 1 GB RAM. It's about 3 years old. It runs the software just great, but the battery life is not impressive.

At the track I have used Palmlog on a IIIxe. It works great for logging, and it can be secured pretty well in the map pocket on the door. The only way it's going anywhere is if I have a serious off-track excursion, in which case I have bigger things to worry about than a $10 (disposable) Palm Pilot. Only downside is that after logging in burst mode, it can take a while to transfer the logs to the laptop for tuning with MLV.

Heh! Why not a C64SX for the car?

My CarPC is a Fujitsu Stylistic tablet. It's a 128MB P3 running Win2k:

If I were doing it over today, I'd get an Eee 901 and do a touchscreen conversion. The Stylistic is ultra-convenient 95% of the time, but having a keyboard would be nice every now and then.

Sav I feel your pain. Tuning the MS with my wife's laptop that runs Vista was a nightmare. The screens would freeze and so on.

I watched the Dell Outlet and scored a Inspiron 1525 with XP Pro for 285 and free shipping. It runs like a dream and doesn't crash daily like hers does.

That steel case with the keyboard that unlatches from it is the ultimate in portable PC tech. Of course this picture is of the Kaypro 2. I use the VI with the massive 10mb internal hd. People that weigh laptops in ounces are pansies. That baby is 28 lbs. Was only $2800 new!

+1.

Windows XP Home, 120gb HD (advertised, mine came with 145gb) 1gb RAM. Perfect for tuning because of it's size.

compaq armada 1700

sure its only 266mhz.... and i had to upgrade from win 95 to win 2k... and i'm running it at its max capacity of 160mb of ram... and its 4 inches thick and weighs like 30 pounds... BUT! it has dual batteries and will run for 5 HOURS on a full charge

oh yeah and it only cost me $20.

Just a side note, MS might work with this, but I had a hell of a time with the Hydra software. I don't remember what the stock resolution was, but all of the gauges on the bottom were cut off and I had to hide the taskbar so the program wouldn't crash due to the small screen size. I eventually sent it back and I just use my huge Inspiron 9300 (17") screen when I need to do some tuning. Finally bought a power inverter from Frys and it is now useful in the car again!

Not planning to use MS or Hydra... Actually planning to tune a Microtech system on it.
