What would be your ultimate miata set-up
#21
Yes, probably costs a bit for shipping.
I sell the c.f hardtops for $1450au complete with lexan window, door rubbers and laser cut brackets. About $1800au with high gloss clear and kevlar inside. They weigh 2.6kg's bare and a bit over 6kg's assembled.
The doors sell for $1300au complete with lexan window. 2.3kg's bare and about 4kg's complete with window.
All parts are made the same as autokonexian with vac infusion, and heat cured.

My dream setup would be:
Inside: My motor or an FM 2.0 with a tubular, cast iron manifold(I can dream): coupled with a holset hx40 or a similar sized Borg Warner(extended tip FTW!) mated to a 3-1/2" exhaust. Ford 8.8 out back with a Viper spec T56 trans.
Outside: AWR wide body, with 6ULR's or BBS RX.
One day!!!! It will be mine!

stroked LS7, ford 8.8 rear end w/ 3.55:1 gears, built t-56 transmission, custom tubular chassis widened by about 6" and lengthened by about 8-10", carbon fiber body, 15x9 6ul w/ 275 r-comps, penske or moton suspension, 1:1 steering.

It would contain that engine, with 335 width tires and a custom carbon fiber chassis. Sequential gear box, the most bad *** rear end i could find. I would enjoy the ridiculousness of this car until i crashed my half a million dollar 950 naturally aspirated miata in to a light pole at 240 mph.

**** T56s.
One of the Transam LSX based engines (they are destroked to about 5L, insane breathing up top) mated to a rear sequential transaxle or the normal EMCO unit. Rebodied in aluminum and CF, custom coil-overs and all, longer custom a-arms, full on flat undertray with rear diffuser, and a turbonator.

OGK V2
Lots of little changes from previous build. The major changes:
2L Whammy proto engine
-Everything WPC coated
-Ceramic coated chambers/pistons/valves
-SUB's
-+1 O/S valves
-CNC ported heads
-Custom Integral cams
-BE oil pump
-Square top manifold
-60mm shaftless TB
-lightened crank (8 lbs)
- etc, etc
Kraftwerks C30-74 Rotrex at about 15psi
AEM EMS, 12-1 trigger, sequential ignition, quad EGT
Bosch 040 pump
Injector Dynamics 725cc
949 Racing Big Tube Header
949 Racing 2.5" Laguna Exhaust (might need 75mm)
Trackspeed Engineering triple pass radiator
OS Giken diff with custom tuning
Tubular control arms
Billet hubs
Dynapro 6 piston front calipers
11.75" rotors
Autokonexion fastback, lightened
GTC 300 wing
Lexan windshield
Custom FRP/Kevlar 30mm front fenders
Custom FRP/Kevlar nose
Custom FRP/Carbon hood
Racepak IQ3
20 gal fuel cell in pax seat (for enduros)
Dry break nozzle on RR quarter panel
Expecting about 320whp on race gas, 345 or so on E85. 2000 lbs dry. Will go chase ITE and Super Touring 2 cars. If I don't screw it up, it'll be the fastest Miata in the country and one of the fastest in the world. Dusty pile of parts right now, just waiting for the engine which is just about done for us to start putting it back together.

I'm not going in to depth, but I guess my ideal realisitic result would be something like an FE with a 2860 making in the 300 range. I'd like Wilwood calipers on Corrado rotors, X10 pads for the brakes. Suspension would probably be Tein Mono Flex, FM sways, something good for a blend of road and track. Chassis would be seam welded, stripped interior, good, somewhat comfortable seats, good 5 point harness, full cage. Interior would just be the stripped interior, plus some extra gauges for the needed data, nothing fancy. Cleaned up and painted, floor in truck bed liner for noise reduction. Exterior would be something very similar to Sav's setup. Hell, just to be simple, just give me Savs car and I would be satisfied. Might change a few little things to make it my own.

That's what i have now
My current car has 1.6, tdo4h turbo, microtech, 200whp, 15x8's, toyo r888's, carbon fibre roof and doors, stripped of a lot of weight, etc, etc. It was good enough to win the australian time attack under 3 litre mod in 2009. All up it owes me under $15,000.

Threads like this never really seem to accomplish anything. "If your dick could be any size... how long would it be?" Seems like an easy question to answer until your wife/girlfriend explains exactly in great detail how bad a choice your new 12" **** is.
Could I put a blank check in the mail, send it to Emilio, and say I wanted him to build me the fastest time-attack Miata in the world... would what he built for me be the exact list he made above... or with an unlimited budget would he go a different route? Could I get the fastest time-attack car in the world starting with a Miata shell and a blank check... or just the fastest t-a Miata?
With enough money, you could build anything that would beat anything. If you're gonna completely strip it down and rebuild every component into a dedicated racecar using only the shell of the original, why start with a Miata?
If this thread wants to accomplish something, there needs to be a much clearer goal from the OP and a budget... otherwise, we all get 12" *****.

If I was building a UTCC/SLB/RTA unlimited car with unlimited funds:
I'd hack away every part of the tub the rules allow and build tubular subframes, pushrod suspension, move the engine back about 12" and put a Rotrex powered 2.3L Cosworth MZR. Carbon body. Probably something like 17x9 255/40 front and 17x11 315/35 rear. Xtrac sequential. Maybe cost something like $200K when it was done and be a stupid waste of time and money. If I had unlimited funds to build an Unltd RWD TA car, I'd probably buy a C6R, semi rig and a few overpaid engineers to keep it all tuned and shiny. I wouldn't care if I got beat because I'd be driving a C6R.
I can almost see building a UTCC/SLB/RTA Modified class car but frankly, I just don't care enough. Endurance racing is the pinnacle of motorsport. The fact that us normal guys can go do it is fantastic. The door is wide open for someone to build super fast Miata endurance racer.
The rules in UTCC/SLB/RTA are all heavily biased towards monster HP builds. There isn't any place for a well balanced, agile lightweight sports car unless it also has like 450whp. That's a shame as I think a lot more amateurs and shop teams would get involved if the TA regs would place some useful limitations on HP for some classes.
9's and NT01's as usual.

A friend who owns a performance shop and myself are building 2 identical time attack cars. They are going to be built on a low budget - hopefully under $20,000. They will be completely carbon fibre clad by me, with work going into aero. And he is doing the engine work, fabrication of manifolds and turbo gear, etc. I was just wanting the opinion of others that have a lot more experience with miata's than we have. He knows nothing about them, and i know only what i have done on mine. We just want to go out and run really fast lap times in a pair of little miata's, and show up some of the "fast" guys over here in there porches and evo's, etc.
