DD means different things to different people.

I DDed my DSM to the tune of about 15K miles/Yr. This was in PHX, driving home in 110 heat at 3:00 in the afternoon. No AC. No radio. No PS (swapped in a manual rack). No Cruise. Almost no interior. Poly mounts/bushings for everything. Removed balance shafts. 6 puck clutch, 11lb flywheel. How hard/NVH-y is a C7R going to be?

Seriously considering getting a Legends car (probably the Ford Sedan model) registered as a kit car and making it my fun vehicle. 1300Lbs, 125 HP, IIRC the redline is like 12K, parts are cheap, and its built pretty solid. Priced from 5Kish to 12K for a really nice one. Yum. Its like a redneck SR3

The C7R would be a bit like being inside a punching bag I imagine. A glorious 120db punching bag. Pep boys has good mufflers.

I'm serious, someone else is writing the check for my ultimate track car with the only stipulation that it be driven on the street once in a while? I'm choosing an unobtainium race car with A/C that will juuuust make it into my driveway.

If we can choose real race cars I think a porsche 917/30 can am would be a hoot/deadly to drive as a street car. Maybe a Porsche 935. Newer DTM car?
Zonda Revolucion?, Ruf CTR3
Hmm now I am going to have a grudge against rich people as I go to bed.

Having to daily a race car really kills the fun in it for me. You bend it, you can't drive to work.

In saying that, I'd probably go 997 Turbo S because it is fairly tame as a daily.

Unfortunately, as OneLap has demonstrated, the correct answer is the upcoming Nismo GT-R + $20,000 in mods. Boring as ****, but it's tough to argue with the results

My pops has a 996 air cooled Porsche he bought from a track instructor in Oregon with about 40k in track mods. Sure the 90 degree steering rack makes it twitchy but it isn't too bad to drive around town in. 1st gear literally has no slip(modulation) so you leave every stop light like as *******. Not many cars sound sweeter than a flat 6 Porsche exhaust note with no cat/resonator. You can't help but giggle every time you floor it.

Sorry I had 996's on the brain. His is a 1997 993. Has a 3.6 that makes sweet sweet music.

My brother and his red Porsche next to it

I was going to say...a 996 is like the worst porsche 911 you could pick.

Recasting my pick. Scratch the 918. Replace with Ferrari 458 Speciale for DD and HPDE. Way lighter, more grip, a bit less power.

Got a chance to drive a 458 Italia a few weeks ago and that's spoiled me.

Saw that video a couple weeks ago. You were really railing on that thing. Must have been a little annoying with the side commentary though.

The instructors are required to "coach", per their insurance. That particular Exotics coach is also my employee, team mate and national champ driver so he knew I wouldn't bend it. Still, he made sure I didn't do anything stupid as he's very familiar with the car and I'm not.

I short shifted too much, made a few line errors. Dropped the lap record for students by about 2s though

Interesting course. Giant parking lot?

Tracked my 95R tribute car for the first time Saturday at MSR-C's 3.1. Ran well. On Konis though. :(

Outfit just started doing some exotic experiences here at MSR-C. Might have to give that a try.

So is this a "your DD that doubles as a trackday car?", or a "your trackday car that doubles as a DD?" It can make a difference.

All of you guys with kids need to pull your heads out of your asses and recognize... there can be only one.

C63 AMG 507 Wagon. AKA, the forbidden fruit, EUDM.

I dunno. The CTS-V certainly has a fair challenging right to the ultimate do everything wagon. Plus its cheaper than the AMG.
