SVD would be the **** - but now at days I assume a PSL as they're much more common... had a PSL once with an 8x Balarus PSO-1 - "affordable" at ~$800, very fun to shoot, but not that accurate

edit to add - should have kept reading down the list! Now if there was only a 20rd clip for the PSL! The terminal ballistics are better than a 30.06 and the recoil is very minimal. You'll be able to buy stock piles of 54R ammo at a bargain - just be sure to clean it OFTEN if you'll be using the corrosive primed ammo.

My father in law bought me a pencil sharpener (and 15 pencils) that hooks to a drill.
My mother in law bought me a large see through plastic bank with a picture of Elvis on it that looks like a guitar and is full of popcorn.
My wife bought me a Audrey Hepburn calendar and a calender with pictures of guitars on it.

No, I am not making any of this up and these were the only presents I got.

I got a broken-down dryer, (the thermal 'fuses' went out) and a rootball in the sewer system at my mom's place, resulting in a rather spectacular back-up! Whee!

On the up-side, I ate a lot and went to many parties! I'm a happy one!

I was really surprised as I usually don't get (or request) jack.

Day before Christmas wife snuck out and next time I came in from garage I noticed she had thrown something under the tree.

Wireless headphones so I can stay up late watching stuff without disturbing them. I'm a bit of a night owl, but don't ever plop down in front of the TV before 9pm since I stay moving taking care of things around the house or garage, playing with daughter, or enjoying cooking most of the evening.

Invariably as soon as I get interested in a show my wife and daughter decide to go to bed. Most of the time I'll follow suit, but for the times I don't these are super nice. I'm a deaf bastard, and hate how most movies seen to have incredibly loud action sequences followed by hushed dialogue....just can't stand it. Now I can enjoy actually knowing what's going on.

Wish I had them that night I caught "Lost in Translation". I didn't have the foggiest ******* clue what was going on in that movie...but was afraid to turn it up and have my wife come out wondering why I was watching Scarlett Johansson in her panties.

Stomach flu On Christmas eve and Christmas day. How awesome is that?

I get myself Christmas presents all year anyway. Got an MS2 daughtercard, forged connecting rods, Gran Turismo 5 and COD Black Ops. I just gave them to myself early because I really like me.

PSL's don't use "clips" they use magazines. A clip (also known as a stripper clip) is used to charge rifles such as the M1 Garand.

My gf ended up loving everything I got her, so that was a relief. She said she was torn between getting me a laptop or an ipad but didnt know what I'd rather have or use more often, so she passed on both. She ended up getting me a couple small things and a pretty badass telescope instead. I had mentioned to her before that I always wanted one of my own, but would never buy one and never asked for one as a kid. She remembered and hooked me up. I keep telling her I'm a ******* scientist now and I'm going to find the next planet. lol

From my one brother and sister in law I got cash, and the other set got me a iTunes card and a marijuana desktop calendar. We usually focus on the kids because that's what Christmas is really about. Seeing that there's 6 of them between the ages of 9-15 its pretty loud and crazy. My dad was a little unsure about the projector and screen when he saw it. I only had it temporarily setup for him and it wasn't lined up and positioned right for the room, so I don't think he knew what to expect. Now that everything is mounted and hooked up my mom says he watches a blu-ray every night. I'm happy he has something to look forward to and enjoy now after working in the freezing cold all day.

Here's a daytime and nighttime shot of GT5 on the screen.

Me like.

I got a couple cool radio antennas (another hobby) and a nice set of speakers (Boston Acoustics Pro60SE's) for the miata. Friends tell me I shouldn't have a radio in such a car but my autocross times always got better with Motorhead cranked up to ear bleed levels.
