Get one of those heavy duty mats for the cargo area, then you can haul stuff without messing up the interior too much. You'll get over it once you haul your first load in there. Be a man and pop that cherry.

I don't have any qualms about hauling stuff in my 15 year old Miata if need be, but my 24 year old 4Runner is much better suited for that duty. Both are inexpensive. Neither is treated like it's cheap, just used as it was intended.

Most modern "SUV's" are no more than sedans on steroids, and some are even built on a car chassis. I would take an FX45 based on looks because they are admittedly sexy, but would take a new turbo Forester based on practicality. I use my SUV as it was intended and it suits my needs, otherwise I would have a Subaru. I actually saw a Subaru Outback on a mild Jeep trail once, some geologist and his wife were out exploring.

And if you think tires are expensive for Miatas, don't ever become a Jeep addict! I have 3 sets of tires for the Jeep and could easily buy another Miata for what I spent.

Most new SUVs are a joke anyway. People buy them because they're "bigger" when in fact, interior room sucks ***. WTF is the point in a "luxory SUV"...kind of an oxymoron if you ask me...**** the whole "SU" in SUVis even ******* retarded... sport and ulility... LMAO. The only thing more gay is the term "crossover". Unibodies are for cars, frames are for real manly vehicles.... notice you never see a unibody dumptruck? Sorry, but IMHO , anyone driving a shiny, pretty, "luxory" SUV automatically has a tampon stuffed between it's legs and only bought it thinking their equally retarded neighbors would be impressed at the monthly HOA meetings and PTA conferences.

Oh.. the only frame+body SUV that is excluded from being a 'manly' SUV is the 4-door Jeep Wrangler... that thing is about as gay as a Volkswagon EOS.

Not many of the imports are built on truck frames. Most are built off some kind of car chassis. The FX35 we have is based on the 350z!

I had an old Isuzu Trooper for about a dozen years. Did everyting, hauled everything, went everywhere in it. Never let me down. Lumber, bricks, blocks, sheep, trailer, hay, hunting dogs, etc. Everything went in that truck. I bought it specifically because it was built on a true truck frame.

Our RX was heavily involved in the home renovation. That was a light load compared to all the trim boards I hauled on the roof rack. Yes, I missed my F350 on that trip... But all that was easy compared to towing race cars.

+1, my father in law has one that WILL NOT DIE. I had to borrow it while changing the head gasket on the Integra, and it was actually a blast, and would go anywhere. We got flooded out that week, so I got lucky I had it. 3' of water?...no problem.

Our Xterra really is a POS. Some people off-road 'em, but I took it down a fire road once and it complained the whole ******* way, and needed another alignment afterwards. Guess I'm too used to 'Yotaing with my cousin. The Nissan also sucks on space like Doppleganger said, especially for how big it is.


My funny stuffing the Miata story:

In Feb, I sold a guy my whole audio setup, but he wanted me to install it -on my daughter's second bday-. I had to go pick up the cake and the balloons, and was running waaaay behind, and was in the Miata.

If you take the top down, scoot up and recline passenger seat, put the two bags of 20 balloons each in and then carefully raise top, you just barely have enough room to drive.

I did have one pop right next to my head after about 10 blocks. Ears rang for a while. I wish I had taken pics.

Not a Miata, but this past weekend I was at Menards and there was this older guy who wheeled out 40 2x4's on the flat cart. I was amazed when I saw him pull up to a Satrun and start loading them in. When I drove by in the parking lot, he was just sliding #39 and 40 into the car.

haha I always accidentally end up going grocery shopping with my car vs my girlfriend's trailblazer. It's actually pretty damn amazing how many full grocery bags you can stuff on the shelf behind the seats and in the trunk. I always feel very accomplished
