Why I hate autox...

If you ran 120 minutes continuously sure you'd be out those parts. Sessions are 20 minutes with an hour in between. I bought a used set of BFG r1's and now have put 3 track days on them and they still have some left. I installed 1 set of EBC red stuff pads and use those for the track and the street. They're still in good shape after 2 hpde's and 10k of city driving.
I used to play pool. Played pretty well. Gambled a lot. Got talked into playing in some tournaments. It's just like autoX. Sit around for hours to play one match then sit again. Sucks. How in the hell are you supposed to get in a rhythm or learn something when it's hours between runs?

I haven't been since before I broke my knee. But used to go take bikes up there, and it wasn't too bad.
I'd like to go back. Specially since Atlanta Dragway is only opening the 1/8 track on Friday nights now.

Yea, autocrossers that don't know any better usually chant that mantra.
There is a major fallacy with that statement, because usually good road racers have absolutely no interest in autocross, find the idea boring, and after having tasted sweeter fruits higher up on the vine have little enthusiasm to become successful at autocross.

I got to both of them. They suck.
VW has some good ones at tire rack (when no one shows up) We literally would hit cones stop the car and pick them up. By the time we were in line again it was run time no waiting. 30 runs

What I've learned from this thread.
Actually driving AutoX is fun.
Waiting in line to run sucks. 3 or 4 runs in a day sucks. The way most AutoX's are run sucks. The high geek factor sucks. Guy's who've ONLY run AutoX don't know crap about road course driving. Most guys who run road courses have AutoX experience. Most guys who run road courses prefer road courses but will run autoX as a far 2nd choice. There are exceptions to every rule.

Did the guy have a car or does he just go to the parking lot and look "cool"? I'd still like to know the story on the jacket and helmet.
I went to one auto-x in my Talon. A guy with a 70's Camaro said my tires were skinny. He then asked what pressure I run. I didn't know. He asked if I drag raced. I said yes. He said he got 1.9 second 60ft times with Hoosier slicks and whatever psi of pressure. I told him I got 1.7 second 60ft times with mud and snow tires. He left me alone after that.

He reminds me of the guy running around town with his adult tricycle wearing a construction outfit, construction hardhat, with spare wire, hardware, wood, pylons, tools, etc. in the little basket and trailer behind him. Hangs around at all the construction sites and tries to look like he belongs there. At least this nutjob has a hobby when he isn't making hats from his victim's thigh meat.
