Default ITT: Jeff buys a 'scope that isn't nearly as impressive as Reverant's

I decided it was finally time to pick up a scope. Seeing as how I just turned 25, my wife agreed that we could just count it as my birthday present .

After talking with an EE buddy of mine, I settled on a Rigol DS1052E as it was both affordable and offered reasonable bandwidth for the type of stuff I would be working on (basically just automotive/megasquirt stuff).

So far I'm really happy with it. As this is my first foray into using an actual scope, I wasn't really sure what I was diving into, but the setup/calibration were super easy and it isn't really all that difficult to figure out basic functionality. I spend a little bit of time playing with it tonight testing out my 'hopefully someday it will work' uber-stim that I've thus-far only been able to test in a simulator.

NB:

I'm hoping that now that I'm starting to amass some 'real' tools, I'll be able to tackle a few ideas that I've been kicking around...

One of these days I need to take a bench pic. We all like to show off our toys.
