Default WTF chain?

Here's a thread on a crossfire forum where they had a race meet. Some guy puts chain on motor, connecting the supercharger to a mounting point on the chassis. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that gonna **** some **** up? This isn't the 70's. You can't just bolt a chain to your intake. I figure if torsional stress from improper mounting can **** up a supercharger, then using it to hold the motor still is a BIG NO NO.

I just wanted to facepalm so bad when I saw it. I mean. That's a tight clearance piece of equipment and he's subjecting it to a lot of stress. Not to mention... He used a chain. I can picture what that must have looked like as he would floor it, let off and floor it again. All that rocking and yanking. It hurts.

sure it restricts movement in one direction but what happens when it rocks in the other direction and the chain goes limp? Seems retarded. Probably sounds like a chain under your hood too.

I love how nobody sees any problem with it. Do those people actually work on their own cars? Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of in depth tech on that site.

Guy on a Tib forum also has one of these. He went to this deal and was defending the chain. I'll get a couple quotes.

"the guy with a chain was just testing it, he is an old school guy just experimenting. I can see you are a big tuner by looking at your mod list, I should have the older gentleman that is working on his srt6 to give you a call so you can set him up with a great mod list like yourself. Then he can go from running low 12's to high 16's like yourself."

"like i said, he is an older guy and he is just trying to come up with things on his own. he knows his stuff, he is testing a dual intake for a company, he came up with an upgraded heat exchanger and several other helpful mods. the chain was a test for that day at the track it is not something he has on there all the time. if you seen the photos you would see the inside of his car full of datalogging equipment and monitoring equipment so he can verify his results."

So lets get this straight. Some old school guy that forgot these superchargers a built tighter than the 6-71's of old and he's got all this experience testing and tuning cars... But wait. All he had laying around was a chain. I didn't even address his personal attacks on me. Not worth the time. Weren't we talking about people being asshats with certain types of cars? I'm sure if some ******* had tried that on his miata, EVERYONE and their duck would be ******* on him.

what a ******* idiot:

"Finally I am not happy with the torque, it looks good and is high, BUT ITS FLAT. That means that the computer is limiting the torque ( Horsepower is the product of T and revs). Where is this happening and how do I get around that limit??????????????????????"

I swear to God. If I wouldn't get banned and outside people could view this thread, I'd let that guy see this topic.

Oh yeah. And the guy told me that I look like a tuner myself and that he should give that guy my secrets so he can run high 16's instead of low 12's like me. Dude. I'm not a tuner. I drive a Saturn. Are you effing kidding me? And that's low 16's to be exact. lol

Directional tires turned "backwards" delivers a higher coefficient of friction, hence more traction. But greatly increases wear and noise and hampers wet traction. Good thing to do when you get to the 1/4 mile to make a few passes.
