Yet Another Gun Thread

bMeh.. not a huge gun fanatic, but by southern Californian standards, I'm deemed an eccentric among my circle of gun-virgin friends.
Big fan of lever action rifles, I had two others but gave them to my little brother (12 years old) and sister (19)... both were Winchester 30-30 1894.. Loved the ever living **** out of those guns, but it'll take some time for my little brother to man up enough to shoot it without bitching about the recoil.
Current stash. (back home, not with me currently)
Beretta M9, classic and I felt as a handgun, I couldn't go wrong. Had lots of experience with it while deployed, and it's one of those guns that feels right.
Then I got my 38 special Colt King Cobra.. I'm just a fan of revolvers, grew up as a kid loving clint eastwood and the revolver mindset just sunk in. Nowhere near as versatile or accurate as my M9, but does pack a wallop. (really holding out for a 9" Anaconda)
And I got a really good deal on this Centennial Edition 66' Winchester 30-30. Made from real gold and blah blah blah. It's incredibly gaudy, but I was a fan of lever action, and this thing was almost too good to pass up. (150 bucks from a garage sale)
Plan on picking up an AR15 when I get back stateside and trying to see if there's any deals I can get from our distributor here at the STS to get shipped to me casa.

Just put down a 15% layaway to reserve my XDs at my LGS. Gonna pay it in full the weekend of the 19th(they're hosting "Springfield Days") when they have a Springfield rep on site and give you an extra mag, box of ammo, range bag, and a weekend range pass with purchase of a Springfield gun. Figured I'd go ahead and reserve it since they're not easy to come by. I also put my name on the 40 person list for a M&P Shield in the 9mm variant. This will be my first hand gun since recently becoming of age, and I'm super stoked.
I've shot quite a few guns these past few days at my local range to see what I like (glock 19, 21, 23, and 26/springfield XDs, and XDm compact 9, 40, and 45/S&W M&P Shield/Ruger LC9/Kahr PM9/Wather PPS)
I feel very comfortable shooting a 45 ACP and 9mm (not a 40 fan). I wanted a 9mm because of ammo cost, but I did not like any of the other single stack 9mm after shooting the Shield. I came to the decision of the XDs based solely on availability and size. I signed up for my CHL class last weekend of October and I want a gun I will carry. I would rather have a shield if I had to make a choice, but I just plan on getting one when it becomes available and not paying out the *** for one right now (online auctions they're going for $600-$700 when it retails for $449).
Anyways, just thought I would share with some other miata loving homos like myself.
