Yet Another Gun Thread

Your original statement sounded like a trained police officer with hundreds of hours in the range cannot shoot as good as the average Joe off the street. Is it something in the doughnuts? Do they train them to shoot incorrectly? I just cannot agree with that. My guess is that in the heat of the moment most people shoot worse than what they do on a range but someone who has training would still be better.
I've spent a lot of time at ranges in my few years on this planet and more often than not the guys wearing xyz pd t-shirts are the poorest shooters. They also talk the loudest, who knows.
The Draco is high on my list but I just haven't been able to pull the trigger on a purchase yet. If the zombies ever come or if society breaks down is the Draco and 5,000 rounds of ammo what I want to have with me? I don't know. None of these things are ever going to happen (I hope) so I don't know why I would put much importance on them.
As far as an SKS, I already have a Yugo 59/66 in wood. It is so damn heavy that I do not like shooting it. The only time it ever comes out of the case is when I want to shoot some golf ***** out of the grenade launcher. Nothing cooler than walking out into the middle of the street and firing a few off. I keep the ATF papers with me that prove it is not a weapon when fired like that.
Anyway, thanks for the input. You might have steered me back towards the Draco.

Also, having 5,000 rounds of 7.62x39 stockpiled because you feel like you might need it is pretty foolish. In any scenario, the chances of you needing 5,000 rounds are slim to none; have you ever sat down and fired *just* 1,000 rounds out of a rifle in a single day? It's ******* grueling, tortuous even with a machine gun. I'd rather have 500 rounds and be totally ready to rock knowing I've put 4,500 rounds downrange. Being familiar with your weapon of choice is key. My weapon of choice? A fresh out of the box Colt LE6920. No optics, no fancy rail system, none of that bullshit -- just a lightweight, easy to use rifle that I'm 100% familiar with. It takes 20 mins to zero in and will last a lifetime.
All of this conjecture is making me tired. I'm just grumpy because I wasn't able to make it to the range because of the weather. :(

My thoughts on being fit during the zombie apocalypse - more than plenty of time to get fit when it happens. Want to lose weight? Let society break down and have to kill people for some canned corn. I'll have plenty of fat on my belly to sustain me for weeks while the skinny people die off.
I did not do a very good job saying what I wanted to concerning the 5,000 rounds. What I meant was would an AK pistol be what I wanted to have if I could only have one gun. I'm sure it would be a fine choice but I will take a look at the Colts you mentioned. This is more than likely just a toy so I doubt I end up spending that much money.
Lt. Colonel Hal Moore: I think you oughta get yourself an M-16.
Sergeant Major Basil Plumley: Sir, if the time comes I need one, there'll be plenty lying on the ground.

Pusha has ******** telling him he'd shoot better in broad daylight @ the range if he mounted a flashlight. I have ******** telling me I'd shoot better if I bought a piece of **** acog or eotech ******* red dot for my Colt A1. Those same assfucks also claim they can make 600 yard shots with their stupid 1x red dot.

I would not recommend a rifle (or carbine for that matter) chambered in 7.62x39 as an "all-around" defense weapon. You won't have range for **** with a 6" 7.62 x 39 barrel, BUT if you wanna be a G, you can go with 5.45 x 39.5 and rape face.
7.62 x 39 < 5.56 x 45 < 5.45 x 39.5 < 7.62 x 51
7.62 x 54R isn't up there because nuggets are AIDS. There, I said it.

I know someone who disagrees with that...

One thing cool about owning a Draco. Since I already have the SKS I can share ammo (which means I can buy in bulk without having it lay around so much).

I really don't understand the "tactical" craze I see associated with rifle building. I guess it's a hobby like putting **** on our cars. Have you ever picked up one of these "fully loaded" autos? Too heavy for me.
I'm with Pusha: **** the "pimp my gun" bullshit. How about you pimp that range time and become one with your rifle.
However, I am not a Colt ****. I'm shopping a DPMS LR-308L 7.9lbs empty. I think testing and reloading my own ammo is going to be the fun part, but I'm a nerd.
