Ammoseek.com is great.

223 remington ammo rifle

If anyone else has a better source for finding the cheapest rounds please share. Don't forget to compare shipping prices.

Looks like the price went up. Use to be closer to $0.27/round. I found some 7.62x39 for $0.20/round.

I like the gui on www.gunbot.net better, but both sites have a few vendors that don't link to the other one, so I check both.

Currently, any steel-case (Wolf/Tula) you can get for .30cents/rd SHIPPED is going to sell fast. The cheapest brass case over the past few months has been Wolf Gold around .37cents/rd, followed closely by a few of the major reman places. I wouldn't call those prices "deals", but at least you won't say to yourself "I paid too much"... the market is what it is.

About a week ago, I got 12 "your item back in stock" emails from Sportsman's Guide for all the steel .223 on the planet during a "free shipping" day... it's was all gone in 48hrs.

To be honest, there aren't really any "deals" to be had online now. The market just isn't there yet. Dealers know that summer is coming and people are gonna want to go out and shoot now that the prices are about a 1/3 of what they were last summer. On the other hand, every Walmart in town has at least 10k rds on the shelves that aren't moving at all. Maybe closer to Memorial Day we'll see some movement (could be up or down).

But honestly... I've seen the best deals lately at my LGS. It's not quite pre-SHE, but an LGS will always deal for cash, and the smaller shops here have steel-case by the pallet that I don't think people are buying because they remember when you could get 20rds of Monarch for $3.79 just 24 months ago. Anyways, I'm stepping up my reloading game pretty big, but I bet if I walked into my LGS with $1500, I could walk out with 5000rds of PMC Bronze or Wolf Gold at .30/rd.

On the other hand... any money spent on reloading consumables is money in the bank. When the Zombies come and you're camped out on a few thousand Hornady 55gr SP's, you'll thank me. Zombies hate soft-points. After their flesh starts decaying bad, there just isn't enough density to get a HP to expand, and FMJ's just punch a little 5.56mm hole straight through and do zero damage... but soft points deform and tumble. Really, any varmint ammo will do in a pinch if a zombie is more than about a week dead, but a soft-point just isn't fair to 'em. You don't even load-em very hot... about 2000fps is perfect for 100yd headshots.

Best price I can find on Hornday 55gr SP's is Powder Valley... $50/500 with $9.59 shipping. That's just .12cent/bullet.

Powder Valley, Inc.
HOR2266B500 .224 55 GR SP W/C (500) $50.00

I'm not going to be able to get started on loading those until I get back from cruise... leaving early May for 5+months... SUCKS BALLZ! But bandwidth from the boat is pretty good, so maybe I've got a few thousand waiting for me when I get back.

Getting stuff to the boat isn't as bad as it used to be... USPS flat-rate boxes revolutionized military mail... with most people using the large-size, they can fit so much more into the same transporter because there's no wasted space between packages.

Last night I cracked open a bag of once-fired 9mm and discovered ALL OF IT was crimped stuff... so I got intimate with the SuperSwage... took a long time, but my plan is to load it all before I head out to the boat... something to do.

Also today, my 300ct of Hornady XTP's arrived. I actually want to chrono these and don't know when I'm gonna have a chance. Hornady says 6.7gr max using PowerPistol, so a pinch safe at 6.5gr would give me around 1200fps. These are strictly for zombies.

California Highway Patrol officers and the sergeant at arms are currently stationed outside Yee's office at the state Capitol.

Yee, a Democrat, represents District 8 in the Bay Area.

He is a candidate for Secretary of State, according to his website.
This may not be a big deal to most of you people, but a quick search of Leland Yee will result in quite a bit of California firearms legislative info, and then my glee will be understood.

In honor of Mr. Lee's impending arraignment, I'm sharing this:

100% California Legal 20" Rifle build

Franklin Armory HSC-15 lower ~ Manuf. in CA
BCM Standard 20" Government Profile Upper w/A2
BCM Complete Bolt Carrier Group
BCMGUNFIGHTER Charging Handle Mod 5 (SMALL)
RIA LPK with National Match 2 Stage trigger
AR15/M16A2 Stock, grip, rifle buffer and spring

And of course, California Spec AR15 Bullet Button

I don't remember what forend that is but it came with the vertical grip that I removed shortly after taking the pic. I'll probably hunt down a standard A2 forend for it for simplicity sake. If I can find a decent detachable carry handle it'll have a pretty solid M16A4 thing going on, so we'll see. ACOG would really do the job but that is not in the budget. I think I've got a Troy folding BUIS somewhere in my collection of stuff I just need to find it. Can't shoot it until I come up with a rear sight either way so it is what it is.

I might have most if not all of the front A2 forend if you want it. I'll try to check tonight for it in my box O'stuff.

Funny thing is, I think that is one of the best looking ARs I have seen. They typically look like some sort of COD player's wet dream.

I guess Ive just never gotten the AR craze. I guess thats why my .223 rifle is a mini 14

(not my pic, but very similar to mine)

Thanks! I've always liked the "look" of the 20" barrel A2 stock rifles so I said 'FUCKIT' and built one. Good balance, no recoil (not like 5.56 has much anyway) and it just feels like it 'fits' properly. I've also found I'm more consistent with the 20's I've shot than my own 16" lightweight.

I'll try to get a pic in proper lighting when I get a chance.

My first autoloading rifle was a Mini14, but it was one of the miserable ones before the redesign in the 2000's. The newer ones I've shot have been quite nice.

Just because we're on the subject, I believe that the M14 is the sexiest firearm of all time... the lines of the gun that result from the gas tube being on the underside of the barrel gives me somewhat of a chubby. MOH recipient Randy Shughart, one of the 2 Delta Force snipers from Blackhawk Down rocked one and it confirmed my opinion some years back.

As for pistols, perhaps a cliche, but the Ruger Vaquero... nuthin' but black, and of course .45lc (what else?)

Nice looking ar. It would look like my M16 except yours is new and nice looking and mine has an ACOG and is old and beat to ****. ACOG's are expensive but the quality is really good. If I had the cash I would pick one up for my personal AR. They work well if your up close or shooting out to 500+ meters, but then again so do iron sights.

Can have the two pieces for the cost to ship. They came with some other parts, I think they were new takeoffs from a dpms rifle.

Anyone know of a red dot with a .223/5.56 bullet drop compensator and little to no magnification? I'm not spending $1g on an ACOG. Eotech use to make the 557, which I like, but it was discontinued. Vortex makes the Spitfire but that seems to be the only red dot with a BDC.

I have a newer gen Eotech that has two dots. One for 100 yards and another for 200 yards. Is that what you mean?

Non-magnified w/BDC... sounds like a solution in need of a problem. How about just get a budget red-dot and zero for 200yds?

Kinda, I'd like to shoot out to more like 500 yards though.

Edit: the 557 has a BDC for like 62g 5.56 or 55g or something. They stopped making it though. Makes me a sad panda.

Not really, I've shot out to 500m with iron sights (no magnification). I'd like to be able to do the same with a optic that doesn't magnify, just offers a clear sight picture and points of aim for different distances. I would like to use the same optic to shoot with both eyes open at closer range as 500 yards. I can do this with an ACOG but I don't want to drop nearly the cost of my rifle on my optics.

I've found several 1-4x "scopes" that might work.
Amazon.com: Burris 200433-FF Fullfield TAC30 1-4 x 24 with Fastfire II Scope (Black): Sports & Outdoors Amazon.com: Burris 200433-FF Fullfield TAC30 1-4 x 24 with Fastfire II Scope (Black): Sports & Outdoors

^This can be had without the red dot for $308

I've got this: http://bushnell.com/tactical/rifle-s...throw-down-pcl

I'm happy with it but still have a holosight as well. The hollow sight just gives me faster target acquisition when I want it. I had a magnifier for it but the eye relief suuucked.

Can you shoot two eyed with the Bushnell? I'm kinda hesitant to look at a Bushnell because I got a TRS-25 and it didn't live up to my expectations. Also I have an A2 style front sight aperture, do you know if I will co-witness at all? I would easily take off the front sight aperture if it meant being able to take advantage of a 500m BDC. Thanks for your input.

I have no problem shooting with both eyes open at 1-2x. Higher than that and I can't. I can co-witness with my magpul buis but don't even with the holo sight I have. My only complaint is the reticle is a bit small for my taste at max magnification. And just to be nit picky I don't get the target turrets.

Yes, but why? Not h8'ing, I really want to know "why"? Is it so you can shoot close range and then transition to long range with the same unmagnified optic, ie, not having to remove it? Why? What are you doing that requires that kind of flexibility?
