Default FM-Link / Toyota Cops failures

I've had Toyota COPs on the car for about a year, but I had not attempted a long trip until recently. At about 300 miles, I lost a cop. I was just a few miles from my destination and decided to try to limp the rest of the way. Lost another right at my off-ramp and then perhaps a third. The car ran while down two, but died at the end of the ramp. We're moving and it took about a month to get everything lined up to return to where the car is stored. Yesterday I replaced all four cops and the car started and idled nicely.

Now looking for a dwell reducer, or I may pull the Link and go MS this summer.

This is on '95MSM, running the last software release from FM. If I decide to change ECUs I am definitely going to miss my Link display embedded in the rearview mirror.

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to comment that I had the same problem with the FAB9 COP kit and my Link. The FM guys said the dwell should be the same with the Link and with the OEM ECU, but FAB9 said that couldn't be possible with the problems I was having. I ended up sending the kit back to FAB9.

I put COPs on my car (OBD2 Link) when the idea for them first came out. I ran them without a dwell reducer for a few years and then with one for years. Never had a problem. I'm running high boost and fairly high rpm.

I didn't use a kit though. I just ordered a bunch of COPs and made my own harness with heavy gauge copper wire.
