Default Track Days Sebring, FL, May 22-24 (Memorial Day)

Two full track days on Memorial Day weekend for guys who have track time and a legal roll bar for $350. Some guys I know will be some of the instructors to ride shotgun with those with no racing credentials.

There are also some rookie classroom sessions and "follow the leader" laps on Saturday for about $40.

This event is partially sponsored by Steeda, so you can expect quite a few modded Mustangs will show.

Here is a cut and paste of some more data from an email I received:

ATTENTION IN THE PADDOCK! These are the coolest Mustang guys on the planet and they open the door for anyone in any make of vehicle to get your feet wet on an open racetrack. This is the best time you will have all year. Sam and I instruct along with Bobby Kostopolous and Dave Galon so you will know plenty of people around you and you may have one of us as an instructor. If you have track experience you may sign up as solo. Please contact Sam or Todd prior to registering and we will make some suggestions to help maximize your fun.
If you are pondering going to this event ask Joe, Daniel, Jim and Jeremy Knight or John Laing what a worthwhile blast it really is.
I reccomend a pit stall to share and the dinner.
Don't skimp on any car prep, you want you brakes and tires to last the weekend.
Todd

For $40 a person can sign up for the test drive which allows them to attend all the classroom sessions, participate in the noon parade lap and then get one session on track with a Track Guys Instructor riding along. We are only offering this on Saturday.
>
> 2. Saturday Dinner will be at the Gallery of Legends. This is the new facility build at the end of pit road.
>
> 3. High Performance Driving School Insurance. Track Guys has teamed up with a company that will cover your car for damage while attending a Track Guy event. Go to HPDE Insurance Program to learn more about this coverage and to purchase it. Note: Track Guys does not receive any compensation for offering this coverage, but provides the opportunity for participants to purchase the coverage as a service.

Sebring is an awesome track. I was supposed to run with a Porsche group down there last August, but they DQ'd any Miata with a roll bar that didnt clear the top of the windshield. That was unless the Miata had a hard top. For them it was a safety issue, so I would not argue that fact.

OTOH, Chin will let you run without a bar, which I think is a stupid idea.

I would be down with this, but it is my wife's 35th b-day that weekend, and we already have plans.

Ford related products like Mazda, Jag and Aston Martin I thought it said, or maybe that was another event. IDK. Read the flier and remind me so I'll know.

I don't see anything about it. I just order so much stuff for my car. Blister flares, A busted GV lip that I'm going to bring back to life, Voodoo and Trigger wheel from a buddy, harnesses, and IAC & MAS apparently mine pooped out on me. I'm going to be busy. How much will it hurt me to grip a Miata with a welded diff.

I found it after some searching. Go to Welcome to TrackGuys!! and click on rules and regulations.

Regarding the diff, probably just like driving it on the street. You do that with it, don't you?

Yeah I consider myself a good driver, just not educated. I would enjoy the learning experience from this. I have a hard top wish that was enough in case I don't have a rollbar by then. Definitely want to try and make a weekend out of this.

Rip,
Here's some light reading to get you started on how to find the fast racing line on a track. It's not always the line you might expect. "Late apex" cornering is the trick to being fast in many cases.

Damn, that's sturdy looking. The only thing I would worry about would be the broomstick rule.
