sounds about right. They could have turned the pace down a good 10-15 seconds a lap and still got by fine. They were definitely ahead about 1.5-1.75 laps.

Clearly the Simon Says guys are doing some things right!

I'm genuinely just curious how many sq/ft of plastic they needed to make their windows.
I'm not going to give numbers, but the lexan makes the car significantly faster. One of the Simon drivers is also pretty sensitive to fumes and it helps with that as well.

Should I be concerned that this was in that set of Flickr pictures?

You should be concerned, yes.

There's only one naked man in that set, and he's not that buff.

These are all brilliant. I like how wide open you shoot most of the time, looks great.

(fuji come out with your super tele already god damn it)

Yeah I like shooting at f/4 or wider. I'll stop-down when I need more DOF. My equipment is fantastic and just making me look better than I am.

I wish I took more around the pits/paddock.

It felt so weird shooting your Fuji, I kept wanting to use the viewfinder and hold it like my 5lb setup. Seems like a really nice camera though, felt very well built. How's the pictures out of it? where's yours?

The viewfinder works pretty damn well, it's a little slow compared to the newer ones, though. I didn't break out the camera until after we had won and the team wanted some pictures of us on the podium. If you want some pictures that I've taken, I can link you after I get home from work. With the rain and having to sling fuel, I wasn't really too keen on shooting.

That said, if the scooter didn't break down (and had a working headlamp), I probably would have goofed off later... but it broke down. Next year I'll be more vigilant.

I saw that there. Reminding me a lot of my Grandpa's. But I remember his having a bigger tank.

Is it two-cycle? we were looking for oil for our little scooter.

We used to ride those as kids at my Grandpa's place in NM, the 49cc ones too which were a little more robust. 2-stroke mosquito foggers. Dug one out of storage a few years back and started restoring it and hope to have it out for the Corvette Museum race

He also had one of these, it was 2 wheel drive and an absolute beast. Would only go 35 but that's pretty fast running up the sand ravines out in the desert

It's a Honda horizontal 4-stroke single cylinder. I had a 1981 Honda Passport during college and it was a freaking blast to ride around town: 72cc, semi-auto, 0 down 3 up.

There were either 3 or 4 Honda Groms going around and I had some pretty bad ideas about grabbing one to goof off around town and to commute into work. This probably didn't help:

I was the guy in the green shirt gawking at them nonstop. I should have asked for a ride since I'm a huge sucker for underpowered motorcycles with just enough power to do the speed limit.

I don't care if I can buy two second-hand Ninjas for the price of one new Grom, I want the Grom.

(this thread is now about single cylinder Hondas)

When I was working with the Honda road race team we asked Honda Powersports corporate for a couple Groms to use as pit-bikes at the Conti races.

They basically told us to get bent...
