I like the way street is set-up as daily drivers, but I don't think a 240whp car with big brakes, full interior, and no aero should be in unlimitted. When I think of unlimitted, I think of a car that shows up on a trailer, has lots of aero, gutted interior, and 300+whp. I drive my car from the track to the god damned bar, you shouldn't be able to do that in an unlimited car.
I see your point, but at the same time you have to admit that my full-interior, normally aspirated car with coilovers and sticky tires is outgunned. I mean, my mad driving skillz keep me in the hunt, but I'm giving up 100 ponies and 400 lbs to you, dood

I weigh 2300lb, and you have modern suspension and real tires. Regardless of how we are classed, you'll still see me at every event even if a trophy is out of reach. The trophy and points great, but the smile I get on the track is truly priceless.

This is an interesting discussion. I'm basically going between Mod on 15x8 street tires and unlimited on 15x9 r's.

This season I drove my car to the track, full interior, ~200 rwhp, on street tires, with a bit of aero. I think its classed about right in the upper end of Mod (14.25 pts).

For next season I'm considering picking up a trailer, since the aero seems to attract alot of unwanted attention. Maybe a cage since the car will be off the streets. Oh, I hope to get more value for the 5 pts i'm taking for power.

I like the essence of mod class where you are limited to what and where you make your improvements and balance power and tire. I really think that the different approaches Geezer and I had would have been interesting if we would have made more events.

Maybe I'm just getting too caught up in the competition and i should stop caring and just drive.

Nah - I think it's pretty interesting too. And I'm not sure that it's coincidental that you were quicker at TWS and I was quicker at MSRC. Like you, I'm right on top of the modified points scale, and I'm thinking about trading a little bit of tire/wheel width for some aero to see if I can knock down my drag a little while keeping the same cornering profile. That and a reflash should keep me in Modified and it would be a very cool comparison between your data and mine. Probably would help some of the newer guys to understand the tradeoffs between power and grip as well.

What about a class with a points system where you are required to drive your car to the bar after the event and consume gratuitous amounts of local beer with point multipliers for consumption by the pitcher?

I was considering a trailer and XJ tow vehicle but I was just hit with a 12% pay decrease and furloughs literally minutes ago, so expect zero modification to my car....run run run unlimited guys.

Regardless of class... I'm in. Outgunned no matter where I go. Ha! Now when we get to the bar; that is whole 'nother ballgame.

WAH! i drove my car to events, plus i only make 200whp. i should be in modified too! hell, we're dropping unlimited in texas. while we're at it we're dropping street too, everybody's in modified. does that make you guys feel better?

forget about it. hustler, you were the first one to tell jeff that you have f/i miata's on 15x9's and r-comps, we're in unlimited, deal with it. what happened to that? either go n/a or do 15x7's on 140 tread street tires.

learn to get the most from what you got, then make a decision. none of us are doing that right now. i know i'm not.
