so obviously, since i covered such a distance,
going to the Delaware meet, i was bound to race someone

so heres a few stories, in no apparent order

info for those who dont know

my gf = kasia
my car = 92 greddy, intercooled, full 3 inch turbo back, 6psi

on my way to the meet, i was going over a long *** bridge in jersey. my gf is sleeping and i was cruising at about 75mph. i look at my mirror and see a lowered civic darting across traffic. i think to my self, hmmm, if he flys by me, ill let him be, and wont chase. but if he comes up to me, and trys to race, ill go for it. so right as the civic pulls along side of me, kasia wakes up. he sits there for a moment, then rev's. he drops a gear, maybe 2? i was in fifth, sounded like he either dropped to 3rd or 4th
most likely 4th because it was at 75mph. he floors it as soon as he drops in gear. kasia looks over at me and goes, ARNT YOU GOING TO DROP A GEAR TOO! i just look over at the civic, which is now maybe a fender length on me, and i floor it in 5th. i catch back up , rather quickly, which surprised me, and proceed to pass him with ease. i didn't let up until maybe 135? i had the kid by bus lengths lol. i gave him a thumbs up and he waved back. so it wasnt a bad encounter.


i was cruising through, well, i think it was jersey, but could have been somewhere else. I was really really bored, ran out of cd's. nothing good on the radio. ugh, the drive was just getting to me. So i started looking for cars to **** with. I see a wrx wagon, with a huge muffler, angled sideways and such. Now, i love wrx's so i had to catch up. i catch up, and try to get him to bite, no dice... no matter how hard i tried. I got along side of him, i revved at him, i tried every thing i new to get this kid to race. nothing.......
so i quit, and just as i quit and see the wrk going along its way, a boxter pulls up, i try with him too. NOTHING! NO ONE WOULD RACE ME! I didnt care if i lost, for some reason, i just wanted to race.
at this point, i was frustrated, i said **** it, put it in 5th, and sat there at 55mph..
i hear a low rumble come up along side me. i was like wtf? i look over and lord and be hold, a black Carerra gt, i **** a brick, i mean you could build a house with the ammount of bricks i was shitting. i drop two gears and floor it. he obviously knew what i was doing , he was looking at me the whole time. now im flooring it in third, then 4th, he is still beside me, just looking at me. i finally get into fifth, and he looks away, his car makes , the, most, amazing... astounding , sound i have every heard. his car dipped a bit in the rear, and he left me as if i was standing still. i mean he pulled so hard, ide need rockets to catch him. the thing is, he didnt let off, i was going 130-135? and i couldnt see him any more..... thats how long he got on it.

i had a smile on my face for miles..

moral of the story,, a 200 thousand Porsche, raped my miata, and im happy




on my way home, i pulled into a rest stop, my bladder was going to implode, filling my body with urine. i mean, I HAD TO GO! so i run inside, relieve my self.

(it just occured to me, i could have started this story differently, not telling you about me having to implode urine on my self, but then whats the fun in that.)

i walk out of the rest stop, go outside, get into my car, and when i try to back out of my spot, a silver miata blocks me in. it sat on rims, enkies, it was lowered, roll bar. so i pull back in, and he pulls beside me. we both get out, at first, i thought it was someone off this forum, from the meet, and just happened to be going home the same way. but no, this was totally random. a man, about 25-29, dark skinned, he could have been black/mix,African American, Indian? or a mix of something
maybe some one knows him from that description lol
so anyway, we chat for a bit, he tells me he bought the car in its current state, he just put the jackson racing header and catback on. other than that, his friend sold him the car as is. he pops the hood, and has a jackson racing supercharger, i was like wow!. im so going to race him as soon as we leave this place.

so we chat, kasia wrote down the name of our site (miataturbo.net, when i saw our, i mean, all 8 thousand members)
and he seems thrilled by it. he didnt know much about the car, and told me that he has had it for two years now.
after some more chat, i told him i had to go, i had at least 200 miles to cover still. so he pulls out and i follow. we roll onto the freeway, and i get along side. i gesture for him to race me, and i honk, on the second honk, he romps it! i was like wtf!!!! im goning to get my *** handed to me. i floored it maybe a half a second after him? we were both in the top of second.
we were even for second, but right after the shift, i started to pull away? now i was astonished, because i thought they ran like 5-6 psi stock on that supercharger, and he had a full exhaust. i ended up taking him by like 3 cars?, maybe 4?
we both waved, and he took the next exit,
if anyone knows of this kid, tell him i said hi

Good stories man, I always love encountering other car enthusiasts and getting a thumbs up. On a random note, I was outside of Columbus, OH a month ago and pulled up next to a Lingenfelter Corvette, bright orange on like 20" chrome 5-spokes. My girl friend snapped a few pics for us so he obviously knew I was interested in his car. He blipped the throttle and flew like 3 car lengths ahead in a matter of a second. Fast *** car, I'm pretty sure it was twin-turbo around 1000whp usually, from what I have read, haven't been able to find his car on the web though.

I very rarely get anyone trying to race me, except diesel pickup trucks. I think I need a 5" tip on the car to get some attention from a different cross section of humanity.

I wouldn't have driven that far and not made the pulls, but you can understand the dude. It's one thing to blow up on the dyno 50 miles from home, its totally another 600 miles.

As for racing the CGT, if my car was going to blow up during a race, I sure as hell hope it would go during a race with a supercar, how cool of a story is that versus racing some shitvic or mustang/camaro/sti/evo/<insert "tuner" car here>.

it would have sucked if say u threw a rod, or blew a head gasket, but that would be one hell of a story


u have a point, ill give you that, but while on the highway, with a cgt or a civic along side me, i didn't really think of it that way
once i was sitting and staring at cars pulling on the dyno, and seeing one **** oil, another blow a clutch, it hit me, i was like yea ,,, umm,, no....

plus i didnt have the money lol

I drove 1100 miles this weekend, 550 each way. Left Saturday, got home Sunday. I picked up the '94 Moab Miata. I drove the car home very easy, only hit boost a couple of times on hills, wanted to make sure I got home.

I am doing a compression/leakdown test tomorrow and will dyno it Friday or Monday. After that I will thrash the **** out of it.
