Ride to N GA mnts and N Carolina 5-17
Planning a group ride to meet at 53 & 400 at 8:15 AM on Saturday 5-17. Ride will blast through the Helen area, probably Neal's Gap, and up into North Carolina. We'll stop for lunch and come back south again, to conclude in the early afternoon. We did this last year, had 13 cars if I remember correctly. This year we'll be a bit better organized and we'll head a bit further north. Have about a half dozen confirmed attendees as we sit. Who's in from the turbo crew?

Me and my buddy that lives down there like it quite a bit. I don't know if they do good drink specials or anything but it's really a place for old foagies to get hammered and dance with their wives. Its nice though and they have two different bands that play there all the time. One is a rock style band and the other plays all kinds of good blues style music. Both are worth going to the bar for even if it means you have to play grab *** with a couple 40 year olds.
My best memory is showing up like 45 minutes before my buddy and having the waittress serve me 2 rounds of brandy and coke while I listen to the band. Hag never even carded me, then my buddy shows up and she cards him and he ends up drinking orange juice all night.
Quick tip. Park across the street at the bank if you don't want to pay for the valet in the small parking lot. Cheap service though so it's not a big deal.

We're meeting at the North Georgia Premium Outlets located at
800 Highway 400 South
Dawsonville, GA 30534
Meet in the most southeastern area of the parking lot at 8:15 with a full tank of gas. We will pull out by 8:30.
I have attached a little map with the meeting area circled in yellow. The file size is pretty large so I'm very sorry if you're not DSL or better.
*This is just a meeting spot. We're not stopping to shop. There will be no "antiquing" during this trip.*
This is the route planned. It goes from north GA into North Carolina and back. Expect nearly 200 miles of mountain driving to conclude sometime mid afternoon.

This trip was amazing. The whole thing was a little shy of 300 miles, from when I rolled out of the driveway to when I rolled back in, and took about 11 hours. We really had a blast. It was probably the best day trip I've ever had, and definitely more fun that I've had in a VERY long time.
I highly recommend that everyone in the NGA/NC area checks out 180 and Wayah Road. I do not necessarily recommend Tuni Gap Road (more later)
So, let's go already
Pee break at The Big Cheese
Ahh, that's where we're going.
Wait, but GOOGLE said this road was paved
We're not really taking it... are we? Guys?
Well, OK, I guess we will.
Anyone hear something? Wait, ****.
Woohoo! PAVEMENT.
UHM, who's this guy with the dogs and the gun? Can we go? Let's go. Now.
Ahh, this is nice
Brakes got a work out
