As much as I like that track I'll probably skip Hallett. The enclosed trailer is great to have but the truck gets about 9-10 mpg going 60 mph pulling that trailer. That is a long, expensive haul to get to Hallett from SA.

I miss splitting the gas bill with my CMRA endurance team mates. We all live in SA, and one of them had a 3/4 ton diesel.

Agreed that Hallett would not be the best for TxMC due to the nannyism. That lead instructor/chief whatever constantly spouting about 4 offs (then to proceed to do 2 offs in 2 laps right in front of me,..).

Spoolin is right. Centrally located is key.

8 events w/7 drops would keep interest up. I'll let ya'll figure out the tie breaker though..

TV's are for pussies Hustler. You should be thanking me. Wait, check that..

Since we're talking about MPG suddenly:
I did 243 miles home on Sunday on one tank with the 400lb tire trailerat 85-90mph...Jeff and I even had it up to 108mph when some faeg was blocking us in traffic. I think the offending doucher was pretty surprised to see a Miata curb-stomp him with a tire trailer at triple-digit speeds. He tried to push Jeff and I off the road randomly, waved his hand like a *** at me, then blocked us at 45mph for a while. So Jeff and I returned the favor when he tried to pass us on the shoulder and we boxed him in, on the shoulder, lol.

Yep I also saw good mileage that time I towed my little trailer to Cresson in the green turbo car. It makes me think that for the one day events I should get the car tagged and get the hitch set up on the LS1 car.

For overnight events it is still worth taking the trailer because I can sleep in it and save money on a hotel. Plus there is that peace of mind knowing that no matter what happens I can take the car home with me. For example, remember that electrical problem I had at TWS at the last minute. It was an easy fix, but it still would have taken an hour, plus needing to bum a ride to the auto parts store and back.

Just found a post on S2ki form a guy that races playboy cup with team MER. He was talking about the difference between the cup car and a stock s2k. Dude ran a low 1:56.xxx in a cup car CCW. Looks like thats the new baseline for now.

Having said that, I have not driven a "stock" MX5. Only my cup car, which is equiped with a Sachs Motorsport nitrogen filled double adjustable remote res shock (comparable to moton or JRZ).. as well as being gutted with a full cage.

The MX5 cup is quite a bit quicker and FAR easier to drive around the race track. Having only 150whp, it was still capable of turning a bottom 1:56 @ TWS in the same conditions my S2000 could only turn a 1:57.. and the S2000 has 40 more rwhp and more tire.

Playboy Cup car presumably?
http://www.mx-5cup.com/series.php?page=MX5carfacts
Treadwear 40 tires (spec tires), nice suspension, gutted (2600 lbs with driver), good driver (presumably). I believe it.

You know, another good thing about H2R, is that it is a radically different track say compared to TWS. Much slower, much bumpier, more technical. That disparity between tracks can help balance out the differences between cars and drivers. For example, my really stiff suspension was fine at TWS even on the transitions. At H2R it rattles my teeth. At TWS aero is significant. H2R probably not so much.

If that playboy cup car can do a 1:56 what is jeffman's car supposed to do? He has what 2150, 240whp, AST's, and NT01's?

i'm estimating a high 1:56 with no passenger. we'll see.....

Once we stiffen that chassis up and get some big brakes, i'm pretty sure I can knock out a low 1:56.

OK it is settled then. 1:56 lap times all around next time at TWS, or at least by next summer.

Default Some thoughts on TxMC

I had a great time, even though I only got two 20-minutes sessions in before 5:00 pm. I thought we finally achieved the ambiance that we set out to achieve: a bunch of track Miata guys hanging out, tweaking our cars, coaching each other on driving, and occasionally going out for few hot laps.

Hustler and Jacob300zx were great, loaning me tools and their time and expertise. Big thanks to JohnWag: he not only fixed my shifter problem, he even drove me to the nearest Mazda dealership so I could buy a four-dollar bushing. Even though I told him that we were even ('cause I let him take my car out for a few hot laps), I will forever be in his debt.

Spoolin2bars is a saint: he paid the $125 to participate, but due to his Miata being out of commission, he only got to borrow Jake's S2000 for a couple of sessions. But, he organized the event, kept track of lap times, even using a stopwatch for those who didn't have lap timers, all while feeling under the weather.

For next year, I think we could eliminate Eagle's Canyon and Hallet, but leave everything else the same, but run everything twice. Maybe add one event at Harris Hill Road. No autocross, for as Bruce Lee said, "Cones don't hit back".

As far as prizes, I think that coming in first place should be de-emphasized, and recruiting more participants should become a priority. Coming in Third Place is awesome, but not in a field of three. If there's money to collect and spend, let's spend it on growing our numbers.

an autox might be nice. I know a lot of people would look down or against it but some of us have had to put our hopes of track racing on hold for one reason or another (time or money).

00 Another saying:

Good autoxers can pick up road racing easy, but road racers cant pick up autoX as easy.

If you guys really want to have an auto-x challenge, why not make it a separate series? Or at least with separate scoring.

^Agreed^

I have no intention of ever doing another autox.
