Default AAA speedway lap video

The camera crapped out on the 1:45 lap. So here is one that was a :46. Enjoy.

Thumbs up

Nice video. Digging the in-car inset, but I'd rather be viewing from closer to the driver so I can see the track vs. the xbox shot. I always liked running rovals, but not for the speed, more for how much they scared me coming into the infield off the oval. Charlotte's transition was enough to get your attention, Rockingham would crash you if not perfect, but they all had that killer G turn after the entrance.

Do you know what your top speed was on the oval? I was able to hit the rev limiter in 5th with a 5spd/4.10 rear at Daytona just before the braking zone into T1 IF I had a draft of any kind on the oval. That was with ~155rwhp and the 99 sports aero package. Outside of that, the trip around the oval was positively boring, though often a nice break after battling on the infield. Rovals are definitely a different kind of road course.

GPS data shows about 160 mi/hr (7600rpm in 5th on a qauife with a tall 5th and a 4.1) entering turn 2. The car is a bit of a brick in the wind with all the madmax aero work. But it was very cool to see the high speed road rash on the aero additions. It was neat to see where the sand and grit wore away the paint. You could really see what the air was doing.

I agree on the camera placement. We were trying something new, and it worked really well for the rearward facing camera, but its tough to see tons of track from the front at the hieght.

Brake ducts holding up? Nearing needing them for mine and wondering if I needed to modify them some more.

the bracket works fine. I might want to get a little more air to them with a wall at the back of the NACA duct however...

badass! that low camera angle really brings the sense of speed to the video. alot of times the in-car shot masks the speeds that are being driven. especially in quiet cars.

i don't know if someone already asked you this, but what coilovers are you running? i thought i saw a robispec sticker on your car. i know they usually use kw's, but i only found variant 1's in their catalog for NA miata's. are they a custom set or a different brand altogether?

They are a different brand. Private label. I worked with Robi on development. They are extremely light and he can build single, double, or triple adjustables based on the finely tuned shim stacks used on my car. In fact, I think he has a set of singles on the shelf that were used for fitment but can't be sold as new. Let me know if you want to contact him.

That wall looks very hard and immovable...
