Default My new engine

Havn't really posted much of my build on this site so I figured I'd throw a few pics up.

Basically it's a forged 1.6L. Supertech pistons, CAT rods, Maruha bearings, balanced bottom end. Ported head w/ SS OS Supertech valves, BP springs, MazComp SUB, custom cams..

Yeah, that's right I'm doing a backwards swap. Que the haters. Going to be running a Haltech Sprint 500 ECU and a Rotrex C30-74 Kraftwerks kit. Project goal is a smooth, easy, drivable 260-280whp.

Awesome build. Wish I had the $$ and skill to build a motor.

That's the idea. Better safe than sorry. I also have the Maruha built oil pump. Good for high RPM. Ocean @ Chikara's N/A motors rev to 9000RPM with this oil pump.

If I get bored with the C30-74 I can always "upgrade" to the C30-94 and make more power.

There will be a few restrictions with the motor that I will have to take care with but I've run out of money... One is the intake manifold and the other is a header that can flow. Keeping my eye out for a MaximWorks header on yahoo Japan auctions and would modify the collector for 2.5''.

I am waiting to receive my new ArTech exhaust as well..!

Amazing engine. Doing it right!! Overbuilding is always smart if funds can support it.

Now center your front mount?

It's a BEGi kit that was installed by the P/O. If it was me that had done it it sure as hell would have been centered :P...

It's coming off anyways to sell the S3 kit as a complete package.

That is some fine work you have done there. I love the cylinder head stand. I am forced to mounting the head to a spare block to do the shim work.

You may consider contacting Prather Racing out of Kansas to have a header built. They can build one for various budgets, depending on the features you want, and will install any collector you want. Beats the **** out of importing one.

Thanks! I can't take all the credit though. All of the machine work, head work and block assy was done be Ocean @ Chikara Motorsports. I did all the easy stuff like intake, fuel lines and all the parts cleaning and helped with the rest. It was a learning experience to say the least.

Some more photos of the BP removal and install of the B6. Some wiring left to do (sequential injection, AIT, COPS and Haltech wiring) then it should be ready to fire up.

Getting there. Things left to do.

-finish re-route
-make COP mounting plate
-pressure test cooling system
-install Haltech
-make test pipe

Then start er up!

Headers are on, ARTech exhaust fitted and I made a plug and play COP harness today using the stock plug from the old 1.8L motor. I also de-pinned the 4 injector wires and put them to their own connector for the sequential injection.

Also picked up my new Wilwood Dynapro radial mount calipers today. Ive got to say, the build quality on these is MUCH better than my old dynapros. By a long shot. Ocean is going to make me a bracket that will fit these babies under my new 13x9.5'' Panasport C8's.

And yes, it will fit... it's been done before

Nice work.

Just a little surprised that w/ all the machining and prepwork, you didn't use a windage tray or knife-edge the crank...

Thanks!

On this build I wanted to take the extra effort on everything. No short cuts since it's a build I hope to keep happy and healthy for years to come.

Well the base tune is done. Took it to 5000RPM mostly with one pull at the end to 5300. The cams start to come on right at 5000RPM and we wanted to see how it did with a few more RPM. There is a 10wtq/10whp jump from 5000RPM to 5300RPM. Only fuel was tuned, no timing and it's very conservative. Pretty impressed for a low compression (8.7:1) 1.6L to pump out 100whp/wtq at such low RPM since stock averages 90whp. Engine is very smooth, and reacted to even the smallest of changes in the map. It should make some good power with the Rotrex.

Going to run it with the RPM limit for a while and the Rotrex should go on sometime before April.

A few pics. Vid is uploading right now.
