Yes to all this. Low light sucks and I've been unimpressed with the mic, I was going to try the open back for the roll bar mount, but I didn't feel like getting back into the garage to push that pin out. Next time maybe.

That R/C stuff looks like fun, I have a little electric one I should try it with. My dog loves to chase it.

You shouldn't have to push out any pin to change out the back cover.

Here's a gopro video of the non-waterproof back cover on the side of a helmet riding a gokart. It's a boring video but it shows that theres no wind noise but obviously not going that fast. I think if you don't need the waterproof cover then you shouldn't use it. If you have it inside your car then use the open back.

Oh I get it. Didn't see the clip was open on the case. I'll try that next time.

I still haven't tested mine. Its still sitting on the desk in the little clear box it came in. Maybe one day when I care to get the miata back on the road I can finally try it out.

Tested mine out a while ago at 1080p 30fps. I think the only real benefit that you gain filming at 720p is that your computer can process it faster when editing and the more fps makes for better quality when you slow the video down. Other than that 1080p works just fine. Some of you guys are complaining about sound quality. I think it does the job as long as you keep it out of too much wind. I did some research and found that you can buy some pretty cheap external mics on amazon and what not that significantly improve the quality of sound and if secured correctly on the car can completely eliminate wind noise at any speed. EX: mount the mic in engine bay or cockpit and run the wire to the gopro outside and you get the footage you want with the sound you want. I think wireless mics are also available but cost more. One flaw with this is the fact that you would need to drill a hole into the case in order to plug in the external mic which i dont find to be a big deal for driving purposes. Anyway, here is my vid. Nothing special just some back-road fun.

Cool video but... You have a Gopro HD. You have no excuse for posting videos that look like you filmed them with a toaster. I want to see it in it's HD glory. Feex it.

^ It was filmed in 1080, but somewhere in the editing or uploading process it turns to mush. Don't know why.

Check all of your video output settings in your editing software. The problem is probably there.

720p is the way to go. I have a GoPro HD and LOWLIGHT is an issue, but that is solved with the GoPro Hero 2 HD. Check it out.

Do you notice how out of focus it is? You can get a flat lens cover that replaces the curved one on the case and you will get super sharp images and footage.

It's out of focus for two reasons; one, its a screenshot of a video and two because my son dropped it the lens got horribly scratch up at the bottom of the pool lol.

I will defiantly take a look into that. A performance shop that I work with gives me 10% over their cost so lens replacement for the hero isn't too expensive.

I love the gopro, probably the best money I've spent. It even popped off @ like 50 during a track day once, and it was fine, this was over two years ago.

But just like some of you guys said in low light scenarios it isn't the best.

I might be putting mine up for sale, to get the new one that just came out, if anyone is interested let me know.

Put my gopro on a stick about 1' long while i was messing around with my revo in the snow.

Edit* We switched around half way through. My buddy was driving the car first. Then filming the second half. I think we know who can drive, and who can't film.
