Random Pictures From Barber 11/14/2010 (CAR ****, 56K NO GO)
Why don't we have a random **** thread in the media section? This isn't really worth a whole new thread. Oh well. I went to Barber Motorsports Park today and got a few pictures. Thought I would share a few.
I'll start with Bryan's (GeneSplicer) car. I couldn't find you today man, I saw you in your car when I first got there right after you had parked it after the first run, but I didn't want to bother you since you were still in the car and looked to maybe be looking at logs or something, so I went off to take pictures and never saw you again. I did see you on track the second time though, then you vanished again before I could make my way over there.
Paint looks great.
It was on overcast day all day, so it was hard for me and my weak skills to get many good action shots. Plus my vantage point was too far from the track for my 18-55, which I had to use because I couldn't locate my 200mm lens. So most of these are crops. I did get about 500 pictures, but only a small fraction are even worth looking at.
Then a few from the museum.

That picture is exactly why I have a street car. Somehow it always makes it to that run group, on the back of the grid...that way it removes all doubt.

Thanks fellas. I felt they were kind of average, or poor even, but then again I am my biggest critic in every way, and a perfectionist, so it's no wonder. I'll dig through the other 500 and see if some of the others are salvageable. Biggest problem was with the low light, having the aperture and shutter set right without having to click the ISO up above 400, since last time I went a bit ISO crazy and got terrible shots. I'm new with a camera, still learning.
Also, any free hosting sites that will let me host larger images. Photobucket only lets me go up to 1mb, which is only in the 1200x800ish range for most of these. I have a few that may be desktop worthy (1920x1200 or 1920x1080)

The poor thing got hit on the other side of the track by a black BMW, messed up the BMW nose pretty bad, never did see the Vette damage though.

Track bitch driving the poorly running crashed Vette back to the paddock
Some far off action, and an invading giant spider...
This is why my pictures are so boring, this is all the space I had to work with. To my left were two useless poles someone had set up, and to the right was an ugly orange tent just over the pit wall that was in all of my pictures from that direction.
And two Miatas playing
Someone say Porsche? Porsche Driving School fleet.

On another note, I was knocking at the door of 1:42.71 with a borrowed timer. Maybe I can post some Barber vid here? There were ALOT of guys coming over to see wtf was up, since I was passing them in their GT3s and such... I love it!

Here's a vid getting respect from a GT3 - granted, I hope it was his warmup lap - then I lock it up into #1... daarrr

Filtered light can sometimes be the best light to shoot in. Nice shots, might i suggest turning the shutter speed down a bit with your panning shots to try and get a bit more motion blur? It almost looks as if the cars are parked there heh

We worked out a deal on it... I'm not at liberty to discuss the actual price (per our deal), but this job would have gone for 5-6K. I caught him at a good time - just moving here and needed to get his name out. But, I guess I paid about as much as a clean paintjob would have cost - which the car needed originally... (but yes, it is paint - not vinyl))

Lets hope you keep it in one piece and looking good then. Good video. I hope to one day have a car able to go out on track and run like that. As soon as money is there, I'll be there.

Yeah, I realize that. It's hard for me to purposely make my shots blurry, I like crispness, but it's not what is needed for action shots. It'll take time for me to get used to it. Plus with a short lens, I would have had to turn the shutter speed down quite a bit to get much blur. Some of those shots were in the 160-200 range, with f7.1 and f8. Still not much blur happening.
