I wonder why they didn't go with the badass v8? Would of been more "supercar" would it not?

Wasn't the V8 Atom a limited-production novelty with a base price well north of $200k?

I honestly can't see the point in buying one of these. I mean, it's $120k and it doesn't even fly. Who would waste their money on this thing when your other option is this?

what makes a v8 drive the price up so much and not a smaller engine with both a supercharger and turbo?

But seriously, because of the fact that the smaller engine, supercharger and turbo (and the transmission to which they were attached) were all mass produced off-the-shelf parts from major manufacturers, rather than something custom-made by Hartley Engineering specifically for that one car in a small batch, mated to a bespoke Sadev sequential-shift gearbox.

Also, for the same reason that a cup holder costs $950 if you buy it from Porsche.

Also because they only produced 25 V8 Atoms in total, in order to create artificial scarcity aka "exclusivity."

thanks for the schooling.

i didn't realize the v8 atoms were so custom one-off. I saw a few of them down at VIR, since they live there.
