Did some more light tuning last night, if we can't get this thing to idle smooth I'm getting rid of these cams. I want my car to drive like its stock when I'm not in boost.

Here we all are creaming our pants over the one thing you hate about the cams... ironic? lol

I would not get rid of them just yet. It will take some time getting it right.

Have you considered lowering the gear ratio just a bit. Gear change and cam change go hand in hand. It will get you out of the hard to drive lower rpm, and into a smoother higher rpm while cruising.

If you dont want them, I do! Your car sounds SO much better than mine...especially in person.

DIBS.

That being said though, with a little time I bet we get it running smooth . Christ, in the 45 minutes we spent with it I think it improved ten fold.

Sweeet!

When you start making big changes in cam profile idle is usualy going to be lumpy. Personally I like it. I also loved going to a no-balance shaft 4G63 with poly mounts and manual steering. So its personal preference.

I say keep them. That sounds awesome, and I want to hear some WOT in 3rd from 2K to redline!

Wow, I am so in-love with that sound

Please don't fight with them so much that you end getting rid of them. You will be able to drive it normally, it will just take some massaging and from what Cspence has written, it seems you two have already made some headway.

When we had a Hennessy 650 cam installed in our '95 it took fooooorever to get used to the way it needed to be driven. Was it worth the effort? Hellz Yeah!

May I ask how much you paid for the set?

Also, any idea who else makes performance cams for the 1.6?

EDIT: Whoa. Just checked out the prices....very interesting. But, not bad for a set of Cams.

I am jealous... I'd like to get that exact same cam setup. Someday. Maybe someone can get a group buy going since it seems like such a pain to buy just one.

Because they are, as you said, very pricey. I doubt most people here will pony up the cash for a set. Especially since not much information is available about how they actually perform.

FastColt: Sorry to threadjack. Good luck with smoothing out those cams.
