Lot's of Mexican beer sucks by the time it gets here and sold off the shelf. The heat and time turns it skunky. The same brands that are nasty here taste a whole lot better when you are in Mexico. It's fresher and hasn't had as much time in the heat. Local beers FTW.
I'm more a Negra Modello man myself. Seems to hold up to the travel better. Dos Equis, Corona, Tecate all get pretty skunky.

Problem with most Mexican beers is that they are imported bulk and bottled here. Mexican bottling practices apparently don't cut the snuff with the FDA.
So for some odd reason (sun on aluminum tanker maybe) it tastes like crap here. In Mexico it's great. You can bring your own back though, and we always do.
Try Bohemia if you're down there.
