Typhoon Jelawat
So I'm bored, decided to share some awesome natural destruction going here in Japistan.
Got hit with this massive typhoon and so far, it's caused the most damage in almost 5 years. +150mph winds and severe flooding.
Anyway, here's the good stuff.
My window popped out of my rails and rain has been bubbling it at an alarmingly high rate. I have a spare set of coilovers in my room and started bashing my window back into the rail. (I have no tools in my room).
Then while I'm doing a food run for my friend and his new born baby. I stop by to snag a picture of this. His car is the silver Honda/Acura hahaha
Then had a strong gust and flipped this teggy over, it ran into the building during it's flipping and knocked out a window and a chunk of wall belonging to a female airmen on the first floor... sucks for that skank
Here's an STI B4 with the signature STI wing ripped off...
part of our comm just got knocked out (it's commercial, don't worry) and the bowl folded in half.
here's one, one of my forum members on the local forum put up while he's running back from a family mart (it's the jap version of 7-11)
will be posting more... once the typhoon settles, odds are I'll be thrown on a recovery team and sent out on a chopper.... many more pictures to come

Damn. Bet that storm got those anti V-22 protesters to go back home. (I assume you're on Kadena, but still...). I have to say though, after having been stationed on the gulf coast for a while and how things handle storms here...if a storm like that came through, there would be NOTHING left to rebuild.

In all seriousness, that is some of the weirdest storm damage I have ever seen. I'm used to hurricanes, where everything just gets flattened. I've never seen anything quite like those photos, though. Buildings standing perfectly intact, roof and all, with random cars and boats flipped over just outside.
It's like the bizarro-world version of this photo, taken in Punta Gorda, FL after hurricane Charley:
Poor car is just sitting up there in the air like "WTF? Where did the garage go? Why is there a boat here?"

I've never experienced Hurricanes/Typhoons until I was stationed here (Original from SoCal)
As for the damage, most of these buildings are rock solid. All are cement, and I think that since so much of it is built next to each other in such close proximity, it lowers the chances for damage. Not too many blown down buildings out here though, Japan doesn't have redneck 2x4 and plaster built houses hahaha.
quite a few overturned boats/ships and there's some debris off the coast. So far, I haven't heard of any deaths, but a couple dozen injuries.
Also yeah, stationed on Kadena.

Also, being in the military in Japan ******* sucks unless you're SOCOM, then it's cool and you get lots of liberties.. but being in Okinawa, you need to find a hobby otherwise you're gonna ******* hate it out here. Lots of retards and **** on this base. Too many damn idiots wanting to come to Japan all stoked on JDMness and now they hate it because it wasn't anywhere near what they thought it was gonna be. Japan is dope, just be ******* open.
Tell him to trade his left nut for Misawa, that's the dope base. Yokota is cool, but ******* tiny, and you'll end up hating working on such a small base.

I was in 18 MXG. Ops O for AMMO, then MOS, then an interim stint as a stand-in MXG deputy while we waited for the next ones to PCS in (MXG gets two CDs).
I have to agree about the skylines. I wanted one before I got there, but once you see them everywhere (and very few GT-Rs), they're not such a big deal anymore. Especially since you're stuck at 30-60kph most of the time, on tiny roads, in lots of traffic.

And especially on Tak, you roll up with a bunch of other locals and you're literally just hanging out there. People are doing runs up and down the mountain and when locals see us there, they tend to take another route. Cops pretty much leave you alone. Once they recieve a noice complaint they roll through nice and slow with the lights on and just drive past which is our signal to pack it up. Even on 58 they caught us going rather fast, and just told us to slow down and they turned around.
There's enough roads out here to keep it interesting. But a GTR just sucks a massive bag of dicks. It's huge, it's heavy, it's ******* slow, and they aren't very pretty.
