Default New from Columbus Ohio

Hello,

My name is Dustin and I'm from Columbus Ohio. I bought my 1995 miata a year ago and cleaned it up pretty well, drove it during the good weather, and put it through one day of autocross. I really like my 95, but it has had some previous owners that did not keep it spotless. So a few months ago I began looking for something I could baby from start to finish. I found this NB at a near dealership (yes I know.... stealership). The price was actually very good, so I jumped on it and now have a little family of white hardtop miatas. see pics..

To make things a bit crazy, I have a complete 04 msm engine and turbo parts for a swap. My NA is too nice to tear apart, so I am not sure if I am going to sell everything but the NB or buy a track rat car for a msm swap. Who knows...... but I am interested in this forum as it seems more race focused. I love nicely built cars, so I am going to try to gather information from the senior members here. My biggest weakness is engine management. Wrenching.... no prob..... sensors and data.... i suck~

We are practically neighbors.

I just read your build. How is the car now? I noticed the historical parking lot for the miata autocross. As it is currently snowing, looks like I will be driving the volvo wagon again this winter. Perhaps I can come check out your fleet sometime in the near future. You got a really good deal on the 99!! That must have not lasted long on craigslist. What are you doing with the white NA? beater?

The white NA is currently a 1.6 parts car. A driveshaft and throttle body will get it on the road again, pulled a couple odds/ends and put them on another car I picked up for next to nothing to throw on a different red NA. I think I handed the guy money for the black car about 12 hours after he listed it on craigslist. The red car is getting a turbine housing port right now, it's still overboosting, I plan to find the limits of the turbo/injectors after I get the housing back from BEGi.

Welcome, I live in Maryville so not too far from you guys. I'm currently miata-less but I've still got a bunch of parts off of my miata sitting in the garage.

Efini, were you the nice guy I visited to look at the blue chasis+hardtop that you built a custom turbo setup with (but then blew up the engine)?

Soloracer, nice to meet you~ love the merlot.

btw if anyone needs a hand in the garage, just holler at me. I've owned and wrenched on a bunch of modified turbo cars in the past (just not miatas). I'm not the greatest mechanic, but am willing to help out. Also, if anyone needs a junk yard partner... i love that **** too.

i've been trying to figure out how to go EWG without throwing thousands into a new manifold/turbine housing/downpipe. FM has just put out the FMIIR which seems like it will cure my overboost, as well as get me the next step in power, Jeremy told me about it several months ago when we were trying to figure out my boost creep issue. Hopefully my ported internal wastegate will solve the problem, and I can upgrade at my own pace.

Heh, Fooger - your issues are what made me send my 2560 off to Corky before I ever installed it. I was all excited for that 3" exhaust, but your overboost problems spooked me.

Smart man ^^

Once I have the problems solved, I'm working to find the limits of the turbocharger/injectors. My current goal is 300rwhp. I've got this water injection system that's supposed to go in sometime, too...

Probably was. As far as I know I'm the only guy who built a custom turbo montego blue miata and then blew it up (albeit after thousands of track miles) in Marysville, OH.

Were you the guy that was looking for a project car but mine was probably too much of a project?
