91 Miata from State College PA...Hopefully not going full noob
Hey whats up MT! My name is Ethan, I'm from State College, PA I just got my first miata. I've been in love with cars in general since a wee lad and finally got a car, I'll do my best to not be ubernewb with my lack of understanding.
BOOM!
It's a 91 NA, with the B package I believe. I got it for 2500 with 174k on both the engine and tranny. It's almost rust free which is unbelievable for around my area. It's been weight stripped, no A/C, no Radio, no Power Steering, not even windshield wipers. My plan is to get it road legal and daily drivable and then rid of those hugenormeous wheels, the previous owner put them on there and they're so big they rub the wheel wells after that suspension and brakes. Then comes forced induction, or a 1.8 swap depending on how much I get hazed for putting a turbo on a 1.6. Many other little things in between but we'll see where this goes
I've lurked for a few days before buying the car and decided that I'd see what you guys had to say about my fail. Good to be here and nice to meet all of you!

Nice job finding one in good condition, and with a roll bar and the correct color no less. Everyone does their build a little bit differently, so make sure you read lots of build threads and assess you wants for the car before you make up your mind on what route you take. That being said, standard advice on this forum for someone new to boost goes something like this:
Budget $4000 and buy/install IN THIS ORDER:
This should net 250hp relatively safe and reliable HP. You can't go wrong with Flyin' Miata (FM.) You can save money or you can do this right, its up to you. I recommend you save up and not halfass this. Feel free to search any of the words in my list to understand more of what you are getting into.
- 1.8 swap + FM1 clutch
- megasquirt + wideband
- EV14 injectors (FIC or ID)
- FMII "No Electronics" kit with Garrett GT2560R & delete the FM intercooler
- eBay intercooler
- FM 2.5" exhaust to match
- tune
