10AE Owner
How's it going Miata Turbo? I am Kyle and I am from the state that Garfield says doesn't exist (
). Anyways, I am the owner of a '99 10AE that I picked up off a friend almost a year ago for a decent deal. Been driving it a lot, in addition to my other two vehicles a 1990 Chevy 1500 4x4 beater and a 2011 Mitsubishi Evo X MR with extensive mods. Been debating back and forth on whether to keep it or not, and have been leaning more on the keeping it side. I need to do some tall/big guy mods as I am 6' and 240ish lbs (I know I need some weight savings). Anyways, the Miata is pretty stock, just minor bolt ons (K&N Intake, Mazdaspeed catback, Flyin' Miata Sway Bars F/R). Not going to lie, looking into the turbo route, but am not your typical Miata owner looking for "moar low" and the cheapest way to turbo a vehicle. Being nearly a mile up in elevation definitely takes it's toll on N/A power (so does my girth). Still learning a lot about Miatas, and still researching a lot before I pull any triggers. I've had a small list of other fun vehicles in the past (Silverado SS, S2000, and 2 STi's), and look forward to making this one more fun as well. Nice to meet yall, and I am well aware of the troll nature of many Miata communities.
The day I got my Miata. The 510 is not mine, a friend was storing it in my garage for a few months, so I got to drive it when I wanted too.

I love the 10AE, currently in the process of building one from the ground up. Can check out my thread of mayhem and destruction here.

Anyway, drive safe, great looking Miata you got there.

Thanks guys. It's a great little car. It's a 20 footer, looks good 20 feet away. You get up on it, it's got a few small dings, and typical scratches and scuffs. I would like to repaint it one day and fix the small dents/dings (would't take much), after I add more performance to it, lol. Not going to lie, I want to run an EFR turbo on it eventually, I have a 7670 on my Evo (previously had a 7064 on it) and am absolutely in love with the EFR turbos. I also want to tackle suspension and braking as well to have a balanced car and not one that just excels at any one thing. I honestly have more fun in the Miata than I did my old S2000, couldn't tell you why, maybe I feel less guilty beating on it, IDK. Or maybe the more neutral handling over the AP1's (under steer to snap over steer). It's by far more forgiving and easier to drive IMO. IDK... anyways, thanks again for the welcomes.

The AP1s must have really had a different feeling than AP2s. Just did my first track day in my stock AP2 and it was a total hoot. Very neutral, easy to hang the tail out or tuck it in or whatever.
I don't think I've driven a properly set up Miata though.

Yeah, my AP1 had a tendancy to push on corner entry, not much but was noticeable. It would usually stay neutral after that, but would sometimes get snap over steer mid corner. I got used to it, but it would hurt confidence. Mind you this is all on the street and not a track, and on stock suspension and sway bars. My Miata just feels a lot more neutral and forgiving mid corner, and if it starts stepping out, you can feel it and play with it a lot easier. IDK, maybe i've become a better driver since I owned my AP1, that wouldn't surprise me as that was my first sports car. I do know Honda changed the rear suspension on the AP2's to make them less snappy at the limit.
