Thumbs up 1990 Stanced & Boosted in Canada

Hey guys,

I'm Nick from Ottawa, I'm 18 years old. Picked up my 1990 NA about a month ago, with 174,000kms.Immediately lowered it on some cheap raceland coilovers(Yes they're cheap I know) and put on some 15" xxr 531's with 20 offset. Then I got bored of the power(That's what happens when you were previously driving a 330hp skyline!) So then I got the idea to turbo
I'm in the process of boosting it, here is the set-up:

Vibrant intercooler
Vibrant intercooler piping and connection joints
Turbosmart BOV
ACT heavy duty clutch (1.8L)
ACT racing flywheel (1.8)
Megasquirt PNP
420CC Mazda RX8 injectors
Stainless Steel Ramhorn manifold
Stainless Steel Down pipe
Garret T25/T28 turbo
Vibrant Air intake

A couple pics:

Looks like a decent car. Props on the mspnp. Don't forget the most important part...wideband!
Watch how you use the word "stanced" I clicked expecting to view a Miata with voluntary broken suspension.

Thanks, and yeah I will be running an AEM uego along with an oil temp and boost gauge, still figuring out pod setup, and as for the "stance" I think its one thing to have a low yet functional car, but think its stupid to sacrifice driveability, especially on a forced induction forum!

I think it should be raised up and put on some better suspension (like even stock), but other than that, its looking good.

Yeah... Low doesnt mean it handles better. Car looks good overall though! Welcome!
I HOPE your "stainless ramhorn manifold" isnt from Ebay.... if so, youre gonna have a hard time...

Stock suspension bushing were all seized, and After putting 2000$ H&R coilovers on my volvo and being dissapointed, I chose to choose a cheap temporary option, they aren't as bad as people who haven't tried them say.

I did not have those options!

I know low does not mean better handling, however i do enjoy the look, and it is not affecting driveability, I still can throw the car into corners without rubbing, and my camber is also very functional and not exaggerated. The manifold was originally purchased used off this forum, and I am getting off of a local forum member, he says he does not know if it is from ebay, but it looks a little "One off" to be an ebay manifold, I.e the welds look functional and solid instead of made to look good. I will upload a pic when I can.

H&R coilovers are **** too, spending 2k on coilovers doesnt guarantee they will be much better than $200 coilovers.
Dont worry, hang around here and you'll learn.

Cool.... just be very careful with that manifold. If its unknown where it came from, it could bite you in the ***. The only good "ramhorn" style manifolds ive seen are from Artech. Usually they crack... then you weld them.... then 2 cracks appear.... then you weld those, and put relief cuts, and weld supports to the runners.... then those crack off..... then a few more welds.... then it shatters all over. Lmao

Thank you for not destroying your car.

Looks good. Should be fun when you finish your build!

only options were h&r or KW, kw being even more costly. Miatas on the other hand have many great options, ideally i would like some Tein's.

I'll keep my eyes open for a Begi manifold, And my welder handy in the meantime!

I may be young but I'm not on the Stance bandwagon! I like to push my car, and I don't mean getting out to push it over speedbumps.

Yeah, I've worked for my money, and selling my Car Memes facebook page definitely helped fund the turbo build on this car haha. I figure the time when I have no family or responsibility is probably the best time to own a 2 seater convertible!
