Talking New to the Miata world from Houston, TX

Well Evenin boys and girls

My name is Andrew, I reside outside (but work in) Houston, TX

I am 100% new to the miata world.

I have had previous experience in Nissan and Honda and now its time to venture off into a new place where I'd like to stay for quite a while to become much more educated than I am now.

The Car:

I picked up a 94 Miata M Edition 1.8L, Montego Blue with the Nardi wood grain shift **** and e-brake handle, aluminum sill plates, Torsen LSD and all the other M edition features...

With a clean title

For $400

The catch was...the genius before me welded the timing belt cog onto the crankshaft. (I have a thread of this on the MX-5 Miata World forum).

So it was decided to begin a project/build.

I have one thread on here discussing "Whats your forged internal choice"

and so far I have to say this is beginning to look like home.

Pictures of said car ASAP.

Welcome.

Enjoy the ride.

Do you plan to modify this vehicle? If so what are your plans? Judging by the forged thread I'm assuming some HIGH BOOOSZ.

Grats on the find and welcome to the forum!

BTW, Step #1: New Radiator. They don't last long once they turn that shade of brown.

That is just about the weirdest fix I have ever seen.

Tales do exist of failure at the interface between the crankshaft nose and the cambelt pulley, usually as a result of improperly torquing the bolt which hold it all together, and mostly on the '90-'91 engines. Some folks have used a loctite "liquid metal" product (sort of like JB-weld) to "fix" this, but this the first time I have ever seen anyone actually weld the two parts together.

At any rate, welcome aboard.
