Default Figured i better do an introduction...

I bought a miata about two months ago.

Was looking into a turbo one at the time and used this site to help me determine whether it was decent or not, turns out it wasn't. I ended up going with an NA 90 with a 96 1.8l in it using the FM conversion kit. It has some coils and some 15x8 wheels. Pretty basic.

We'll ive put roughly 10,000 miles on it and i drove my first turbo miata today.

Today is the day i decided i could no longer live without boost in my life/miata.

I've been doing some research over the past few days and have been here from time to time to read some posts and read the "DIY FaQ - ALL your answers in one big post" around 10 times already, and i'm sure i'll read it more.

What i'm aiming for is a stock internal 1.8l with about 170-180rwhp on a DIY turbo 'kit', i have a pretty small "budget" so i'm sure many things are going to be bought used.

Kay, introduced.

Oh, and i haven't done a search yet, however... any information on Megasquirt is much appreciated. How to wire it, tune it, etc etc.

Welcome.

Nice looking car. Looks like a score with the 1.8L swap already done.

I remember that day. Life (and my marriage) hasn't been the same since. Good luck coping with the addiction.

For what it takes to get to 180whp you can just as easily edge 250whp. Unless you're trying to push your luck with the original '90 1.6L 6" differential. Replace that and everything on the car is good to 250whp, engine management permitting.

Either way you need a good clutch, and any that will handle close to 200whp will go to the limits of the stock 5spd and rods (that magical 250whp number).

MS is the ONLY way to go unless you're baller and want to buy an AEM. You can build one (or almost have one built by Braineack) for what decent "bandaids" cost, and you'll be limited with the bandaids. MS will allow you to tune just as easily for 250whp as 170whp. DIY offers a PnP options that runs a little more, but is ready to go.

It can be scary as first, but as soon as you've run your first datalog tuning with MegaSquirt could not be easier. If you're reading, you're already halfway there.

Thanks for the compliments

I was actually offered a turboed 1.6 for my car but i turned him down for the fact that it didn't have a MS or equal. And my pockets are deep enough to go with an AEM :P

I will be getting the MS and Wideband within the next few weeks and i pray i can understand how to wire it up properly :P I'll be using this for NA and learn to tune a little bit as i collect the turbo parts. After doing some reading i found that it's best to start there and learn on NA.

I've been reading up in the MS section on here and i nearly shat myself seeing all the work that had to be done in order to 'build' it :P

But regaurdless, i want to do it and i want to do allll the work
