Cool Newb to boards - with K24 Swap race build

Hi there!

I figured I'd try this MT thing again.

I have a 1991 Miata, fully caged and race prepped with a Honda K24 under the hood. Car is 1990 lbs dry, and makes a little over 200 whp. Good ratio. I'm in Houston, and I currently race in the NASA Texas region in ST3.

Any advice on where on the forum to stick the build thread? It's put together but I have in-progress pictures from the tub up...

Nice to meet ya'll!

Nice hood! Good solution to the valve cover problem.

Definitely FI. He was running in ST3 with me but detuned to get down to 12:1 weight/power for ST4.

Out of curiosity, can cars run two maps and participate in both groups? I.e. switch maps for the higher/lower class?

Yes, that's totally allowable, but they have some specific procedures that have to be followed officially to do so. You technically aren't allowed to just connect up and load a different map without notifying the race director etc.

Though for me, NASA doesn't allow anything with an aftermarket subframe in anything slower than ST3. I'd love to run ST4 and add some weight to hit exactly 12:1 but the subframe just won't allow it.

Wow.
I'm jealous.

I'm SOOOOO FAR from getting to do anything like that...
We have no such track in Hawaii (count your blessings those of you who have one within reach!)
And I wouldn't want to add up the dollars...

The funny thing is this - I'll probably be able to do it in my lifetime - but I'll be 60 before I can.
Can I get a reverse mortgage on life?
