Default 1.6 from Louisville

Hi all! My name is Matthew, and I'm a Mazda Technician from Louisville Kentucky! I guess I'm not so new to the miata scene, I just recently purchased my second 90' NA (First was a 91'). But like everyone before me here, I'm here to add that much needed "oomph" to Mazdas oh-so reliable 1.6! I bought my Miata earlier this year, saved from the clutches of the "stance" and "low life" crowd. When I bought her, she was slammed to the ground on stretched tires and the whole nine... But looking through that it was in pretty decent shape! It came with the spec miata Bilstein adjustable suspension, obx headers, magnaflow catback, and most importantly a hardtop!!! A luxury that I wasn't so lucky to have with my old Miata. In the short time that I've been the proud owner, I've raised the suspension (most importantly), got rid of the stancey pants wheels with some much more aggressive 15x9 +0 Rota grids and 205/50/15 Nitto Neo gens (Wanting to bump up to a 225, but struggling to click buy on tires with such low treadwear), Replaced the faulty post cat with a T3 test pipe, added a racing beat rear lca brace, found a harddog hard bar at a pretty decent price so I jumped on it, and a few other small odds and ends (mostly "look fast" parts), and I'm in the process of installing fender flares (still recovering emotionally from cutting the front fenders out, still have to knock out the rears). I can't wait to get to know you all and start a 1.6 turbo build! And if there's anyone in the Kentuckiana/ Cincy area hit me up! Thanks!

I'm confused.

Welcome to the best site on this side of the information super highway. Stop cutting stuff before you've consulted the search button.

The old wheels were 15x7 gloss white work meister knockoffs on cheap no name tires. Sorry, lol. I should have re-read what I wrote to clarify. And on cutting, I figured since the front fenders weren't two piece I'd just go ahead and give it the college try! They didn't turn out bad underneath at all, but I sanded the cuts smooth and sprayed them with self etching primer and a rattle can of crystal white oem paint! I plan on doing a bit more research before tackling the rears, haha. Whatever will save me the gray hairs I earned while cutting the fronts.

You could get away with 15x8's with zero cutting to the fenders if you use the correct offset. +0 is hilarious.

I run junk *** 15x8's and just rolled the fenders a little. At least you'll be set up for 15x11's whenever you move on to that arena

It is, lol. Looking at pictures of Miatas with 245's and massive poke didn't help when it came time to buying the new wheels. I became a bit too envious of the look, lol. Once I get a bit more power to the ground I know they'll be of better use. And I'm sure by that time I'll be running 225's, I've had my eyes set on a set of nt01s for awhile now, just need to get the rear finished so I can fit them!

Do it all for the wide wheel look, without having to get wide wheels

Eeewwww you said "Kentuckiana"... I hate that word.

I don't hate bronze wheels on white cars though, so that's cool.
