Hey Boost Junkies
Ok so everytime I join a forum I feel like an alcoholic so here it goes...
My name is Tim, Married with 3 boys. Im 31 so Im not in midlife crisis and Im too old to chase that VTEC dream. I am however a track and boost junkie myself. I have a few cars in the stable and am always on the prowl for more
1994 M edition (109k mi)
2007 CA edition Suburban
2008 Evo X (500WHP)
2010 Lancer (DD 4 wife)
I am an A&P mechanic by trade (14 years)so wrenching is never an issue, but time is my enemy. I spent 9 of my 10 years in the Army with the 101st so I have worked on everything from Apaches,Blackhawk,Chinooks, and OH58 to Gulfstream,Hawkers, etc and my favorite B17,B25,DC3,C47 and a few othere odds and ends.
Ok now on to my Miata. This is my second Miata, the first being a 1990 Classic Red I purchased a couple of years ago when CA had 5.00 gas. It has since been sold to a friend who needed a car. After a lot of maintenance I performed I was told recently that it was still running strong and has to be approaching 300k miles.
My current Miata I purchased from my old boss (the warplane guy) for 3400 dollars. Only thing wrong with the car is that it has a small rust spot that was cleaned and filled with bondo until it could get repaired properly. Other than that it came with a Boss Frog Roll Bar (which I will be selling eventually) and Enkei J10 wheels in 15".
I am currently talking to Trackspeed about a nice build and hopefully will have some info soon on what my ultimate plan will be. I thought I would come here and learn as much as I can. I have weighed the performance aspects as far as V8,SC and N/A and I think that going from a 500WHP Evo on a joyride to 100HP miata is just cruel.
Here is a pic of her (I apologize if it is a lil large as the connection here is too slow to upload. I already had this loaded.)

Thanks.. I am not new to Turbos obviously or Miatas but combined yeah I am a Noob. OTOH I am not one to piece by piece due to time constrictions. That is why I am sourcing this out and I am patiently (not) waiting for Andrew to get back to me with some more finalized numbers. I am checking out TSpeed because they seem to have a good reputation and specialize in Miatas.
Now I am not going to be like some and make unfounded promises but my other alternative is have Road Race Engineering do it. Only issue there is I know Mike is busy during the summer ALOT which is the timeframe I am looking at. He built my Evo, he watches UFC at my house so its family but damn when family doesnt have time. They also tuned the Millenium MS car that Abbott drifts in.
I am waiting patiently on the info so we shall see. I am very open to info and suggestions so throw them at me.
Thanks guys..

Welcome. I dropped from a 400hp Talon to a 93hp Miata, so I can mostly relate to the pain of going slow. Although you still have the X for your fix. I work at a Mitsu shop though, so I can always bum a quick ride when I'm really hurting haha. And I've never heard of RRE building a Miata, but I'm sure it would be perfect if they did it. We build transmissions for them occasionally, and I know they have a great reputation across the board.

Millenium Motorsports built the miata and either Scot Gray or Mike W tuned it.
And Mike would build whatever I wanted, its just if he is busy or not. As you can tell Time is not my friend. Here is a link to the car.. RRE is under Engine Man...

Trackspeed knows the strong and weak points of the Miata. They know what works well for them and what doesn't, what is worth spending money on and what would be a waste. To have someone with that much experience on the particular model of car you have is of tremendous value. And they won't jack you around and waste your money.

I know thats why I am awaiting my quote from Andrew. He seems like a real good guy and even offered to pick up and drop her off seeing I cant do it. Im looking forward to the build so my garage is filled with nothing but sleeper beasts. I have one more spot to fill.. I need a twin turbo silverado... hahaha guess I need one more year in the desert...
