Default Hi from Boston!

Hello all,
My name is Jason and I am 22 years old. I recently graduated from Universal Technical Institute for automotive technology and currently work in the field as a tech. I live just outside Boston,Ma and I would love to see some fellow turbo members near me! But enough about me........
I recently purchased a 91 Miata with 122,000 miles on it for $1200. It had hit a tree dead center in the front and in the process also destroyed the radiator, radiator support, bumper cover, and the hood. This is the car as it sat when i got it-

This is what the car came with installed:( from what i can gather from the clueless P.O.)
-Unknown manifold
-Garrett turbo(unknown size, but has shaft play and i will be replacing soon)
-FM Voodoo box
-F-con mini piggyback
-Blue top injectors (may be stock, researching)
-NGK plugs w/. new wires
-new timing belt, 500 miles old

Me and a few friends straightened the front frame horns to the best of our ability with a lot of measuring, hammering, tears and 2 porta powers. I am not a body tech whatsoever but we got it close enough for my visual needs and tacked the new rad. support on-

This is how the car looks now-

I love my music, so i recently did an 8" subwoofer install (got the idea from Hakuna miata) this is the finished product. A 500 watt Sony slim series amp is mounted behind the passenger seat. I also did the much criticized 4x6 headrest speaker install, with a Sony head-unit and Polk audio door speakers. it all sounds very nice and has nice sound even with the top down!

My plan for the car is to make it a daily driver/autocross toy, starting with an intercooler and followed closely by suspension because it's still the factory stuff from 1991! My upgrade list includes-
-Intercooler install
-Standalone engine management (possibly mega squirt)
-440cc injectors
-Nice tires, probably Faken azenis for dual purpose street/autox
-either kyb agx with eibach springs, or the tockico advanced handling kit

That's all for now i hope you all enjoy! Let me know what you guys think too, constructive criticism is welcome.

Actually good job with the body work!

As you've probably noticed there are lots of good deals here on used megasquirts.

What turbo are you going to get?

Blue marina- Hey, I'm located in rockland,ma about 25 minutes south of Boston. I'm hoping to autocross at fort devin's air force base down here and loudon as well. If your up for it I would love to have some company to go along with : )

-SamNavy- Wow man, way to completly underestimate me........the car accually drives perfectly straight down the road. I am very happy with the results of my very cheap investment, mostly because I am FAR from made of money. Yeah the bumper cover doesn't line up perfect and the left headlight is about a 1/4" high but at the end of the day i'm not so much worried about the visual attractiveness of the car. Oh yeah and did I mention we pulled this off in a 3 day weekend with 28 hours of work! So yeah try and have a little respect......

Fae flora-Thank you very much!!! I have been looking at the vast array of MS discount/used units and I would absolutely love to be financially ready to buy my new turbo, wide band, MS and pay to tune it. Unfortunately I have some student bills and other stuff to pay as well!
As for the turbo, I have lots of research to do with compressor maps, turbine maps,my goals for power, the correct a/r ratio i am looking for ect........
i dont plan on getting rid of the car anytime soon tho, so i will update as i continue but expect it to be slow work ; )

That's a pretty good deal, you ended up with a decent ride for cheap and a little sweat equity. I'll keep an eye out for ya, I live just down the road in Halifax. I have a black '91 with a primer nose. Maybe I'll cya around.

I have a friend in halifax! I'm not down that way very often but I will keep and eye out for you as well!

Blue marina- The first event doesn't matter anyways, I believe it's just a warm-up type event. With that said, I will probably be going to it because I can't wait any longer to start my competitive driving! Good luck with the swap too, back home I know this guy Joey Kale who put an 04 STI motor in his 2.5. Such a nice swap and the end results are

Looks like a good project! I will probably hit up Fort Devons once or twice this summer, though I do most of my racing with the Maine club.

Looks great. Hell of a job on the body work I can't say I would have bought it because I hate body work with a passion but looks like it turned out good for you.
