Default I am a Turbo Noob Looking to Turbo a Miata

Hey guys I came here to lurk around and get some more knowledge on where to go, what to buy, and how to do on turboing my miata. It is a 91 with a 1.6 that has been rebuilt by the previous owner. As a noob the question is "whats a good kit to start with?" thats my question and I know that CXracing, Begi, and others make them. I have a parts list in mind and ill share it.

Begi Turbo Kit
Mishimoto FMIC
HKS Bov or a Tial Bov not sure on which MM to go
Megasquirt
A local race shop has stainless oil lines and all that I would go with
a T25 or T28 Turbo from an SR20

I am a complete turbo noob so any information in regarding helping me create a good kit that will get me around 190-200hp will be great help! Also budget is to spend 2-2200$ if thats doable. Thanks again!

You're on the right track. for manifold and down pipe BEGI or FM is proven to work well. Ebay intecooler kits are cheap and commonly used to be fabed up for a Miata. Don't forget injectors and bigger exhaust and I would recommend a clutch now for when you eventually crank up the boost.

2k budget is doable if you troll the sell threads for used parts and be patient. you can get good condition sr20 turbos for under $100 on the sr20 forums.

Power wise, you'll be limited with the 1.6L motor. But should still be great for a 10-12psi daily.

For THEULTIMATE, find a 1.8L to swap in. Plus some members here may like you more for just simply 1.8L swap...

Do you have a cat?
