Subaru guy wanting to jump in the Miata pool...
Well, I figured I would introduce myself....
My name is Scott, and I've been searching for a Miata for a while now. Just haven't found the right one yet. I'll hopefully be joining the Miata ranks before next spring
Age:28
Occupation: Engineer
Other cars: Subaru's. I have three at the moment. A slow Outback, an E85 powered 02 WRX that would run mid 12's if I could launch the stupid thing (runs 13.1's at 108 with 2.2 60' times), and a 04 FXT.
I've got a long history with turbo cars, having owned 4 DSM's and 2 turbo Subaru's. I've always wanted to get into a miata though.
I haven't decided whether I want to build a 1.6 or a 1.8 yet, but I intend to go high compression (I'll probably take the easy route of just using 11:1 pistons) with most likely a GT2871. Of course, running on E85 at a minimum, but preferably straight ethanol. I'm working on making my own...

There are a few Suby guys here. I had a highly modified '04 FXT (same username on sf.org back in the day) and currently have a mildly modded '05 LegGT.
I'm out of a turbo Miata and currently swapping in an LS6. I'm about 9/10s done. Hopefully in a couple weekends a few other mt.net guys will help me finish it up.

Nice to see some Suby guys over here...I'll feel at home then, because I'm not leaving the Suby camp. Just broadening the horizons...

Sounds about right. I'm planning to do it next year, so yes, 2017 it will be...
Actually, in all seriousness, I've been down the modding road. I'm certainly not done with it. I still opensource tune Subaru's in fact. I done some very serious builds there. But I got the Miata with the intention of primarily just driving it. Of course there will be modding, but limited, at least for now.
Nope. Married with 2 kids. That's why I've learned to be patient.
I had a 4 door wagon before kids, and now with them, I have a 2 seat roadster. Go figure. Not my primary driver though. I have a Subaru Outback and a minivan so the family is covered.

^I tune out of my garage. I'm not associated with any shop. thefoos is my screen name everywhere. I occasionally pop up on nasioc. I'm on the local forums.
I'm just a "local tuner." I've done over 200 in my area over the past 7 years, but I've really dialed it back. Really stopped being fun. Too many posers and aholes showing up at my house with different expectations of what tuning is and does. I only do it on referral now, and selectively at that.
How about you?

I've got a 99 SF that I'm dropping a 06 impreza 2.5i motor into now. My brother has a few old imprezas though, both ej22 powered. Same name on sf.org as well.
I know this is old, but I know you are still active. Do you still have your OBS, what turbo setup did it have? How did it run, how long did it last?
I know the 2.2's are actually pretty damn decent for boost even in stock trim.

I just read my original post. My how things change in 4 years. The FXT is long gone, ended up running 13.6's with it. Moved on to my WRX, ran 12.6@111 with it on a VF43 turbo, then I went with a BW EFR 7064 TS turbo setup that I custom fabbed with a bit of help from a buddy. Was too fast for me. I like my fun to last longer.
