Default New guy from Michigan

Hey everyone, My name is Kevin and I am living in Mid-Michigan. I have a 1990 miata that I am putting a C5 Corvette Powertrain into. I started this around 6 years ago when living in California. I hadn't had much money to finish it so it stayed at a friends house (he was the one doing the work). I have since worked on many cars so decided to go pick it up last week. A friend and his family drove out there with me to pick it up. I got there after two days of straight driving and about cried when I saw the car. A long story short, I had about $20k invested so far including a $2k paint job. The car was left outside and the paint is peeling in many places. I am also missing many many parts that I had already purchased. I had my LS1 engine all put together with some excellent heads and large cam only to find that he had removed the heads to put on someone elses car. He then gives me two sets of heads that could fit but need redone. I figure with everything I have lost somewhere around $10k. For some this may not be much but it's almost half of what I make in 1 yr. So needless to say I am pretty upset. Anyway, I hope to get some good information from you guys here. Enough sob story!

That's brutal! I'd be so pissed. Welcome to the board though.

I had a buddy sell me a running, virtually rust free, diesel rabbit caddy for $35 (beer money) which I was to pick up the next day. When I got there with my truck and a dolly the car had no rear axle, it was in his Scirocco (which his dad later sent to the wreckers cause it was a pos).

Point...

At least he gave me my $35 back and apologized, but he has no friends anymore because of that kind of behaviour.

Keep the car where you can see it regularly and you'll do fine.
