Hey all, my name is Ethan and I'm 16, going on 17 soon. I'm saving up for an NA and have been lurking on a few boards for a few months now. Just researching, researching, researching. My plan is to get my car, and throw every ounce of cash I earn into it. I want it to eventually become a fully track pepped monster. I'm on this board because obviously I'm extremely interested in a turbo application, but that's a very long way away. First I have to get the car, and then I need to work suspension and safety. Then it'll be 6 speed swap time, and then getting the motor internals built out for obvious reasons.
I've been looking at several different options as far as turboing goes. I was pretty keen on an FMII system, but I think I am gonna want to piece together my own system. TurboTim is gonna be my friend hopefully when I'm ready to get boost induced. His fab is beautiful.
More than likely I won't post too much because I don't qualify quite yet to make educated answers and whatnot, but I spend a few hours a day dedicated to miata research, so here I am. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Sorry about that, I need to sort out all that info. I'm living in Cypress, Texas, which is basically just a suburb of Houston. I'm from Oklahoma City and that is where my interest in cars began. All of my friends back home are car kids, but I can't find anyone here like that. It's all about ridiculously lifted trucks and whatnot. Not that I'm against that, considering me and my Dad wheel a 2006 Wrangler that's build is just now starting (bumpers fabrication is the current project). Right now I work in the Woodlands which is just south of Conroe at my Uncle's Restaurant.

Yes sir, that's my plan. Motor is the LAST on my list. Once I get the car, I'm gonna start autocrossing it bone stock. Because I'm a teenager, it'll take me a while to save up for most things considering I'm not going for cheap parts. Coilovers may take around a year for me to get, since I'm looking at Xida's, and then around another year for wheels (15x8 6ULs), tires, and a big brake kit. I'm gonna clock in every hour I can though to shorten these time periods, but I do expect this build to be a prolonged one, especially considering it's my first and I want to do all the work myself, even when it comes down to painting it.

Congrats on making sense of what is important to do first. You are right. You have to be able to corner, stop, and stick the car well at stock power before adding more. A brick on the throttle is fastest in a straight line but it takes thought, skill, and car preparation to be faster in the corners.

As for Jeep bumpers, old driveshafts work very well.

Well, that is something I've never heard of, but we decided to go with 3/16th" steel for the bumpers, and the swing out spare tire carrier is 1/4th" steel. The bumpers are practically done, we just need to finish up some welds and get the measurements for the spare tire carrier and cut and fab that up.
