Default Move to Florida. Buy Miata

Its probably time to introduce myself since it appears I've been a member since 2008 when I had a '94 R-package conversion that I autox in the Pennsylvania, Maryland, and DC SCCA regions

I moved to Florida a few years later and sold it prior to the move since I wasn't planning on racing it down here and a non a/c black miata isn't a very fun DD.

Fast forward to last April and I decided to pick up another so that I can play around as a DD and track car at the nearby tracks (Sebring, Roebling Road, FIRM). I've decided to introduce myself since this seems to be the best website for good data on how to properly build a track car. I picked up a '99 that I'll document in a build thread. Unfortunately, I'm not planning on a turbo build at this time, but I'd love for a reliable 130-140 whp track car.

Welcome. I'm not sure if you heard about it- maybe your on there too- but there is also TampaBayMiatas.net which is pretty local for you. There are quite a few members on that site that autocross regularly. I hope to someday be out there myself but there's always some reason why I don't or can't go....

Maybe I'll see you around at a meet or autocross. -Jim

Re alsmmedic:
Yep, I'm on TBM too. Small world. I really haven't been making it to local autocross events based on the weekend availability.

That's exactly what I did too.

moved to Florida from NYC and bought a miata or 5. lol

I'm on my fifth miata now, 3rd that's turbo. buying a 6th one today to fix up.

I'm in jacksonville, and do autox with scca. planning on doing FIRM some time in the spring. maybe see you out there.

look for a red nb2 turbo with hood vents and black wheels.

Re Borka:
I'll keep a look out for you at FIRM. Do you know what dates your planning on going to FIRM?

I remember seeing a picture of your NB2 on craigslist. Think I contacted you about a megasquirt you were selling. Your wheel & tire combo (advanti and star specs??) is probably what I'll be getting.

Not sure about dates yet, FIRM doesnt require advanced registration, so what i do is wait till 1-2 days before, check weather and if all good i register.
Only been there once 2 years ago on my MSM.
Hoping to go most likely in March.

I bought the red nb2 on craigslist a bit over a month ago, drove to Tampa to pick it up. was a crazy good deal.
It came with 15x8 Advanti storm black wheels and 205/50/15 star spec ZII tires. I love how they look on a red miata, and stick very well.
When these wear out, i will likely try 225/45/15 Rival S tires to compare.

my car:

I'm hoping to get out to Sebring with another local from the forum on January 7-8, if you are looking for a running buddy. Track days aren't as much fun without others to hang out with.

140 shouldn't be all that hard to do on a 99, especially if you're running a megasquirt and have a good I/H/E setup.

If you want to take a plunge down the rabbit hole, you can start reading about VVT head swaps or the BP5A cam swap if you want to keep the 99 head.

Regardless of how far down the deep end you want to dive, someone here will have an answer for you!
