New and soon to convert to Mazda.
Well I'm 18 and at the moment I drive a 92 Integra, but I will be getting a 1.6L Miata probably just because of the price. About to start a second job so hopefully that might bump it up to the 1.8L right off the bat instead of having to swap everything over when I turbo it. I'm converting to a Miata because I like that there small and fun to drive cars. Also because about 85% of Honda/Acura owners are complete douches all the time. I also would like to start Autocrossing and I read that Miata are fun to autocross with.
Also if you have any suggestions please post.
I'm probably going to wait several months before I turbo the Miata when I get it, and save about $2500-3000. What would you say a good setup would be for turbo autocross car and a DD?I don't want a hardcore track car, just a fun car for the streets and to play with on a track. I'm probably going to want 170-200rwhp. Is my budget to low for that? Or is my budget decent? I can have all the fab done for free since my gf's dad and uncle work on cars and have all necessary tools and equipment.
-DIY Turbo Kit?
-Buy whole turbo kit?
-ECU?
-Suspension?
-Wheels & Tires?
-Clutch?

First of all, welcome to the forum.
Getting 170whp is VERY easy with these cars and it will beat any of your honda buddies at the autocross. "IF" you actually plan on staying within your power goals, a 1.6 will get you there just fine. In fact, i'm getting new rods next year and shooting for 400whp on my 1.6.
To keep it short, check this out Begi Turbo Kits These kits will include everything you need and keep you well with in your budget. Buying a kit also means that you don't have to do any fab work. Plus they have many options, so you can decide what you want and get it within your price range and preferences.
As far as suspension goes, it's all about preference more than anything. I have Tokico Illuminas and most people hate them with a passion. However, I love mine and have taken first place for the season in my class at the local autocross, twice.
If I was track racing, I would get slaughtered to death with them. It's really about the feel YOU want and what your car will be built for.
Now, the best thing to do(before the wolves come) is get nice and cozy with the search function. Just be gentle with it, explore it's many options. Use lotion if you must, but don't to be aggresive, it does have feelings.

I will recommend the BEGi Shanghai kit as a good choice for a kit. I would recommend that you have Braineak build a MegaSquirt for you (check the stickies in the "For Sale" section) and get the deduction credit from BEGi for the RRFPR.
If you want to piece together a DIY setup, you will also want the MS from Brain and will want to peruse the used parts "For Sale" section for a manifold. You might find a turbo there as well, or you could take advantage of the low prices of new Chinese turbos on Ebay. Beware that they are not all the actual sizes that they are listed if you study the measurements of the wheels.
You will need to fabricate a downpipe and exhaust. If you want better responsiveness from your turbo and room for future growth you should consider a 3 inch downpipe and exhaust.
Ebay is a great source for inexpensive intercoolers that function well.
Read the DIY FAQ on this forum. There is some good information there.

Start with some suspension, sway bars, and sticky tires. With that you can normally get with in 3 seconds of top time of the day. I'd run a diy bilstein coilover in the 550/300 range with big sway bars (or any coilover). I'd then run an 8-9" rim in a 15" flavor. Pair that with some NT01's or RS3's, sway bars and dominate with good driving. Ad some FI down the road and dominate TTOD.
Edit: Don't go with roadracing pads for autox they wont heat up fast enough. Cost me 1.5 seconds compared to a similar driver and miata in march.
