new to forum. 04MSM trackday build
I've been reading up on all of the great build threads, how to's, not to do's.
I want to thank you all for sharing your experience. This has surely helped me move up to a more sorted car right off the bat!
My project is to make a safe, sturdy reliable track day car. 'Past club racer, I want to be able to use it in an occasional race day if I feel the urge.
I don't have red-mist about having the "fastest" or most competitive miata ever built. I just want a solid, fun car to participate with.
So far, the build list is: Stock internals, BEIG cast manifold/Garrett 2860, ECU tuning, 450cc injectors, upgraded intake and IC plumbing, AEM organic clutch, stiffer engine mounts, race seat/harness/cage.
I suppose I'll still need a few assorted safety upgrades to pass tech.
I think I'll start by running on my street set-up (400#/250# + OEM bilsteins) until I figure out what other options are out there.
I'll likely use Hawk blues on OEM calipers. I'll probably keep the ABS.
Not sure about tires yet. I live in Oregon, so a rain or intermediate set are mandatory. I've got a set of 15" Kosei rims (7 or 8"?) I've got a set of OEM 17" rims (7 or 8").
I'll read up on how to repack the hubs, etc. and will keep an eye out for other reliability necessities. Thx a lot to all!
