Default Hello from Philly

Hey all,

I purchased Steve's (cardriverx) 93 miata yesterday. Despite it's unknown engine/turbo problem, it drove ~25 miles back to Philly without an issue. In the morning I am going to get to work on giving it a good clean and start looking into the oil burning issue.

This is my first Miata and my first experience with any sort of 3rd party engine management/tuning. That said, I have owned and worked on several turbo Volvo's. A 98 Volvo V70 T5 (manual) is my current DD.

Anyway, I have a lot of reading and learning to do about these cars and I promise to always search and read before posting . Thanks in advance.

Edit: Here is a pic I took after driving in the pouring rain to the garage where I'll be working on it. It's not a great pic, I'll get some better ones soon. Also, a pic of the pile of spare parts that Steve threw in.

Welcome to the forum. What are your plans for the car?

Do you have enough trunks and bumpers?

Thanks for the welcome.

As far as plans for the car, I need to figure out the issue with the engine first. It's burning a decent amount of oil somewhere. Hopefully it's not the piston rings... I also need to figure out how I am going to pass PA emissions without a CAT. I believe Steve was able to do it because it passed with a CAT on it several years ago. In PA if you drive the car less than 5,000 miles a year the car is emissions exempt and they do not even do a visual inspection for a CAT. I'll work something out.

As for the random bumpers and trunks, I honestly have no idea how they got there. A friend of mine and a few other guys rent the garage space (it's huge) and that pile has been accumulating until they have enough to fill and dumpster and have it hauled away.
